SOURCE: thinkpad T42 wireless card can't find drivers

Your problem could be :-
Downloaded the wrong driver
There are a number of different LAN devices & wireless cards etc used this model.
There are two stages in the installation process.

Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model laptop,
Use this link :-

After you download the driver file, click on this file and it will unzip/expand the drivers and copies these files to the hard drive in c:drivers... take a note of the folder it has created to store the driver files and then go to this folder and run the SETUP file to install the driver.

SOURCE: IBM thinkpad T42 internet works with ethernet

It seems eaither your wireless card has gone bad or it need to be reseated. Its quite easy to take out the wireless card and install it back. Try it and if this does not work you need to ask IBM to send you a new Wireless card if its under warranty or buy a new external wireless card.

My 4gb transcend memory card showing 30.1mb and can't formatted it in windows 7

I have seen SD card problems caused by a myriad of reasons. First and foremost, make sure the lock switch is set to unlocked.

Then I would start by trying it in another computer. If it works in another computer, the issue could be with your card reader (even if other SD cards work in it). But maybe you can format it on a different computer or operating system.

If that doesn't work:

With the SD card in your computer, run an elevated command prompt (start, all programs, accessories, cmd, right click, "run as administrator"). Then type "sfc/scannow" without the quotes and press enter. Wait for it to finish and see if it works afterwards.

If not, reinstalling the card reader driver might help. Right click on "computer" then click "properties". At the top left, click "device manager". Expand "storage controllers". Right click your SD controller and click "uninstall". DO NOT CHECK "Delete the driver software for this device", or you may have to go online and locate the driver for your specific model. After it uninstalls, go to the "action" menu and click "scan for hardware changes". It should reinstall your SD reader. See if it works now.

If none of that works, and if your USB drivers are realtek, there is a patch for realtek USB mass storage devices that might help (sorry I can't post the link because fixya says it's an invalid word).

One other thing worth trying is to put it in something like a digital camera, and plug it in via USB to try formatting it. If that doesn't help, some cameras have an option to format on them.

I have a Quantaray SD card reader, I put a SD card in it and it doesn't work. I guess I need a driver or software in my Windows 7

Are you sure it's an SD card? If it's larger than 2GB then it's actually an SDHC card and won't work in devices designed only for SD cards.

Toshiba Satellite M305-S4848 SD card reader stopped working after a virus, not detected by windows

Do you see the sd card reader on device manager?

You can get to device manager by following the steps below:
  1. Click on the Start button and then Control Panel.
  2. Click on the System and Maintenance link.
Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply double-click on the Administrative Tools icon and proceed to Step 4.
  3. In the System and Maintenance window, click on the Administrative Tools link near the bottom of the window.
  4. In the Administrative Tools window, double-click on the Computer Management icon.
  5. When the Computer Management utility opens, click on Device Manager on the left side of the window, located toward the bottom of the list under the System Tools heading.
Device Manager should now appear on the right side of the Computer Management window.

browse through and see if you find the device under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers category.
If you see any splats remove it and then reboot your computer. Once it reboots it should find the native drivers and start working again.

Give this a shot!

My sony vaio vgn nw26m sd card reader is not working when i insert a sd card it wont read it

this is what i would do to fix the problem there are several options and ways

type in device manager
when in device manager
have a look to see if you can see card reader in there
if not go up to the top row of writings and icons and hover your mouse over the 3/4 options on the right
one of them should say scan for new hardware
hit the scan tab
windows may or may not reconize the card at this stage but dont worry
if you can find it in device manager and it has a yellow warning sign on it
please double click it and go into the properties
then go into the driver
then try to update the driver from there
if it is in there please un install it

Now leaving the sd card in the usb
restart windows
maybe windows will then install/reinstall sd card driver

if not

please do all your windows up dates leaving the sd card in

if this does not work then please click on this link

go to support/downloads find your model and operating system
find the sd card driver
download it
install it
then restart laptop

hopefully all will be well
many thanks

Multimedia card slot not working

If the card slot is not working the fault is either the driver being missing or the card reader is damaged .. If you know it works ... just go to the support site and download the driver for it and install it ..
If the card reader was not a standard on this desktop , there is a possibility the driver is not on the hp site.. and you have to see what model is the card reader and what make and go to their support site ... (the card reader's manufacturer site )
If it seams that it has no driver fr the card reader i suggest to install the driver for the chip set .. maybe the card reader is not see cause it does not have all drivers for buses..
another way to install teh driver is to go to device manager by click right on computer folder ..and in there select properties / hardware /device manager ..
In the list look to see the card reader .. if it isn't present click right on computer in the list ..and select scan for hardware changes..
It will scan and show all devices connected and with no driver..
If you are running windows 7 or vista you can try to select the reader when it appears in the list right on ir and select update driver ..and let the windows look for a driver on line .. or select one in the list ..But the best will be to locate the exact driver and install it .
Also if all seam OK but the reader still would not work open it and check the connections on the board.. This card reader is plugged on a usb port in the board .. and it may have an issue with the connecter ..Or try to install the usb 2.0 driver cause if this is a 2.0 usb device may be not seen by the windows without this driver ..

Well if the inbuilt card reader does not recognize the SD/MMC card then we need to perform certain troubleshooting steps which are as follows:
1>click on start
2>In start search box type DEVMGMT.MSC
3>As soon as the device manager window opens up locate an option which reads as UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS
4>There would be a + sign next to the same, click on it and then try locate a driver which reads as REALTEK SD CARD READER driver or JMB38X MS SD SD/MMC xD Card Reader Driver.
5>Right click on that driver and then click on uninstall
6>Locate a tab which reads as ACTIONS at the top, click on it and then click on then click on SCAN for HARDWARE CHANGES.
7>try installing this driver:

Restart the computer and then check

Hope this works.

Sandisk is not being recognized on my computer

SOLUTION 1 - Verify if minimum system requirement is met.
SanDisk card readers support Windows Vista, Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2000 SP4.

For MAC users, see
Troubleshooting USB device on MAC

SOLUTION 2 - Verify the reader's status under Device Manager.

STEP 1 - Connect the reader to the PC

NOTE: It is recommended that you plug your card reader to the back USB port on your PC to ensure that there is enough power from the USB port for the card reader to be detected properly.

STEP 2 - Check under Device Manager
1. Right-click My Computer.
2. Select Manage.
3. On the left pane, click Device Manager.

NOTE: The card reader will appear in two places: Disk Drives and Universal Serial Bus controls as USB Mass Storage. If there is a yellow exclamation point (!) or question mark (?) next to the device, try to refresh the drivers.

STEP 3 - Refresh the drivers
1. Right-click the entry with the error mark, select Uninstall.
2. On the top menu, click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes.

STEP 4 - Verify if the reader is detected
1. Double-click My Computer.
2. Look for the card reader under Devices with removable storage.

SOLUTION 3 - Try other USB ports.
A yellow exclamation point (!) under Device Manager usually means that the device is not receiving enough power. If the reader is not receiving ample amount of power from the USB port, it may not function properly.

SOLUTION 4 - Change the drive letters

NOTE: The SDDR-89 reader should show 4 drive letters under My Computer.

SD Card Reader won't work?

have you tried other sd cards before or is this the first time?

if you have and its just this time it hasent make sure its working in your camera or mp3 player or where ever it came from :-)
if it works have a look in your device manager to make sure there are no problems with the drivers.

1 start
2 control pannel
3 system
4 then the hardware tab and click the device manager.

if there are anyproblems there is useually a little symbol next to the device just double click on it and have a look for the error code.

if all else fails try reinstaling the driver for your card reader or find an updated drivr download.

hope this helps
