Question about D-Link Computers & Internet
I wanted to upgrade my router from DIR-628 to DIR-632 in order to have more LAN connections. I was unable to get my TIVO boxes to connect (wired) - most likely a setting. I tried every setting available and gave up and tried to use my old router but it was "firmware upgraded" and I couldn't get it to work either. :( I need either the setting that will work with TIVO or a suggestion of a router that I won't have so much trouble connecting to TIVO with (wired).
It is all about managing the IP's. The router and TiVo should be set to DHCP. This will allow auto IP addressing. It could also be set to static, but this requires more managing on your part.

You have to wait for the upgrade to finish. The router should automatically reboot and the time is depending on the firmware being applied.

When you configure the D-Link router's wireless settings eg. Infrastructure mode, SSID, encryption etc. then the wireless adapter in the laptop needs to be configured with the D-Link's wireless settings so these devices can communicate with each other.
For details on securing and configuring your wireless network as well as configuring the wireless adapter in the laptop, please click in this link and follow my instructions :-
