Having problem with start up on Hp Pavillion dv8000

After turning it on, there is a black screen that apologises for the inconvenience and tells me that Windows did not start properly. It advises me to click on "start system normally"...which I do and then Windows looks like it is going to start but it doesn't. It goes back to the same black screen which says the same thing as before.

Try choosing "Last known configuration that worked" if this does not fix you problem, then reboot once more, and while it is booting up tap the F8 key and select safe start.
Ps. you may just need to do a fresh re-install

It sounds like your screen was man-handled. You will need to replace the screen. You can sometimes buy them used online or you can get a new one from HP. Sorry for the inconvenience.
