Can i use a laptop charger at 100 watts to power my mms460/00 5.1 philips speakers? my power supply got lost. at the back of the woofer where the power is supposed to go in it says - 18vac 2.5A. the laptop adapter i have is autovolt and can get up to 4A in DC. I am also concerned about the input. it says AC at the back, can I use 18VDC safely? please help.

Possibilities:
* leaking/bad capacitors on the motherboard, not doing their job, i.e., causing voltage fluctuations that the motherboard cannot tolerate;
* dead disk-drive -- cannot boot Windows from a "dead" drive;
* dead CPU -- cannot do anything other than power on/off;
* failing power-supply -- not supplying correct voltages to the motherboard.
Take the laptop to a qualified computer technician, for professional trouble-shooting, and probably a replacement of the motherboard. But, it might be less expensive to "salvage" the disk-drive (and your files) from the laptop, and to buy a new laptop, than it would be to buy a replacement motherboard, and pay for installation.

Hi there,
What does the other end of the adapter look like?
Is it a conventional circular one or is it a special port like it's thin square like or USB like maybe?
If it's conventional any 10v 1.8amp or 2 amp output should do and a lot of them are available in e-bay or if there's a Best Buy, Staples, Etc near you can just drop a visit purchase one and it should work like a charm.
However if it's not a conventional adapter you may have to contact philips and purchase one that is compatible from them.
Hope this shed some light on your problem!
