My new PC build is stuck on AsRock POST screen

I cannot load Windows because my new build will not go any further than the AsRock splash screen. It will not recognize the keyboard nor will it read from the optical drive and I cannot get the motherboard CMOS or BIOS to reset by either taking out the battery or jumper'ing it

Check that your new build PC is connected properly. Also make sure that the RAM is seated properly and that it is the correct type and speed.

SOURCE: ASUS Splash Screen Stays on at Post....

AFAIK splash screens are generally controlled in your CMOS settings, you'll need to hit DEL on POST (Power On Self Test) alternatively called a 'boot up' to access your CMOS panel.

SOURCE: I just put a new hard drive in an ms1029. from

You need to go into the bios and select the primary boot drive to be the optical drive. You can usually enter bios by repeatedly hiiting the delete key or F2 when you power up.
Good luck
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

SOURCE: Where is the CMOS reset

I am not sure you have the exact model I do, but the battery is on the underside of the motherboard - you must undo the four silver screws holding the board down, and also two screws to remove the front plate. Pull the board up and out, and you will see the battery underneath.

Startup with F12

Welcome to FixYa! Delete is the BIOS setup key at POST. F12 is a one-time boot option. Safe mode is accessed by repeatedly pressing the F8 key at the first Windows splash screen. Post again if you have further questions. Steve

Hi, the only reason that comes to mind here is your version of XP. A retail version will load on almost anything, a version supplied with a brand name computer may only be suitable for that brand, Dell/HP etc. Sorry if I am not much help, don't discard your old board, you could buy an add on card for ide connection then disable the onboard one and continue with the old system.
