Screen not working on ipod Need Help

Ive had a black ipod video, 60 GB and first generation for about a year and its been working fine, until today when i turned it on and the screen wasnt working. The Backlight still works but it just shows a blank white screen. I can still play music but cant see the menu. Ive tried rebooting the ipod several times by holding menu and the center button when it reboots, it shows a bunck of grainy lines going vertical and horizontal. And after i leave the ipod off for a while w/out rebooting the screen works fine and i can see the menu so i dont think the screens broken. any ideas on what i should do? Thanks a lot

Re: Screen not working on ipod Need Help

This sounds like you have left the ipod in a hot car or in the sun too long, if so there is not a true fix for this problem. You can always take it in for a fix at an apple store.

2nd generation ipod nano with the "white screen of death"

Resync it to iTunes. You may need to reset it to defaults and then resync it, but resync usually works.

IPod Nano 4 GB -- what gen?

If you have the Nano with the smaller screen measuring 1" x 1.25" and got it 3 years ago, you most likely have the 2nd generation. Apple doesn't really have cases on their site for the older nano. I have the same one and purchased my case at Target. They have a good selection of 3rd party (non-Apple branded) cases. You can also check an Apple store if you have one close by.
Hope this was helpful.
Have a great day

30 GB Ipod Video Problem - Its locked

To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including: ipodnano3.jpg ipodclassic.jpg icon_ipod_5g.gif ipodnano2.jpg ipodnano.jpg ipodphoto.gif ipodg4.gif ipodmini.gif
  • iPod nano (3rd generation)
  • iPod classic
  • iPod (5th generation)
  • iPod nano (2nd generation)
  • iPod nano
  • iPod with color display (iPod photo)
  • iPod (Click Wheel)
  • iPod mini
  • iPod mini (2nd generation)
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
