Are you able to switch the controls to dispense water? I see three possibilities that could be happening. The cup dispenser switch, the dispenser control board or a relay on the motherboard is stuck closed. MSD2274VEM00 Parts
The electrically operated valve that opens when you attempt to get water is probably bad. This unit may have one unit with two valves. One each for the ice maker and water dispenser. This valve unit will be in the back of the refrigerator and have a copper or plastic supply line from your house. This line will be "live" so be sure and find and close the valve attached to your house's water supply.
if the ice is opperating normaly listen for a click or humm from the water valve if nothing it may be the switch first check for power at the valve when switch depressed if present replace the valve if valve has power and you hear it oppening and closing it or the line to the dispenser may be plugged. if no ice either check the water supply to the fridge and the filter in the fridge if there is one.
Is the unit brand new? If so there may still be packing / shipping materials preventing the switch activation arm from contacting the micro switch. You should hear an minor click when the water dispenser arm is depressed. If you do not hear a click locate and remove the packing material. If you hear a click then watch to see if the water line in the back of the unit moves at all when the switch is depressed. If it does not move then the water dispenser valve is not warking. Again if it is new this would be a warranty repair.. It may be something as simple as the water valve connector is not properly connected. If it is an older unit and you just now started to use the water thru the door function the water supply vavle could simply be stuck from lack of use. A good thump on the side of the valve lower body can sometimes freel the valve plunger. Getting to this point would require opening the back of the unit. One last thing is if the line moves when the water switch on the front door is activated then you may just have to wait until the air in the line clears. I am assuming you have already tried this method.
When you try the water dispenser you should hear the water inlet valve which is on the back where the water supply comes in. If you do hear it then Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws. If you don't hear the valve working the dispenser switch is bad.
1 of two things. 1)the switch at the dispense flap has failed. 2) the water valve solenoid that the sitch activates has failed. you will need to pull the unit away from the wall and remove the bottom panel...on the right side you will see the valve assembly. remove the power connection to the vavles....then turn your water on...water out of dispenser means bad solenoid/valve....no water means bad dispenser switch.if its the switch you can leave the solenoid to the dispenser unplugged until you get the part.
Sounds like a plugged water filter, assuming the water is turned on to the fridge. If you have a manual, refer to the section about water filters. The filter is usually accessible from the front of the fridge at the bottom....requires about a 1/2 turn counter-clockwise. Some units require that the water be turned off first but not all.
If you do not hear a click when activating the dispenser, there could be an issue with the water solenoid (water valve) that opens and closes when you use the water dispenser....agai...check the manual if at all possible.
