It sounds like the glass had some kind of coating to help slide your finger over it, and that coating has been removed by the alcohol. I don't think there is anything You can do about that, other than to replace the Touchpad. If you can live with the looks, you could try to put one of those "Screen protectors" for Smartphones which is a clear sticky-plastic sheet, that cut to size and applied could help you out if you don't want to shell out the $ for a New touchpad.

I don't think you are able to get a new touchpad for this kind of laptop... but could you give me a bit for description of what putting a screen protector on it would do, and what the feeling would be like and once I put it on would it be removal if I wanted to take it off? Thanks in advance.

Which make and model is your Laptop? The plastic sheet is just a protector your put on a Smartphone LCD to protect it from scratches in your pocket. It's just a sheet of self-adhesive plastic that You stick on. It's perfectly removable again, you just pull it off, leaving no residue. The sheet is glossy, so it should work fine on your Touchpad.

I cannot say for sure what is the best solution. Try putting on that protection film and see how it goes.

SOURCE: touchpad on laptop

You should have a little icon in the right corner of your taskbar, right click on the touchpad icon and click enable.

If that does not work, right click on my computer icon, properties, hardwrae tab, device manager, look down list for mice and pointing devices, click on the + sign, select synaptics(if that's the make) and select uninstal.

Restart laptop and the drivers will automatically re install and should work as normal

SOURCE: Can move the mouse but not clikc with the touchpad

Hi,

if you installed an external mouse, it would over-ride the touchpad.
try removing the external mouse, and tap the touchpad twice as if you were double clicking it.
also you could try re-installing the touchpad device driver, usually synoptics or similar.

My cursor keeps jumping and moving the letters in my emails.

Step 1:
If you are a frequent user of a notebook or netbook computer, then you likely use a touchpad to navigate your computer's on-screen cursor. However, there are a number of issues that can cause your cursor to seem jumpy or unresponsive. To find what is causing these issues, you can troubleshoot both your hardware and your operating system and find a solution to the problem.

Turn your computer off and then clean your touchpad. Dampen a clean cloth with some isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and then pat the pad dry with a paper towel. Even a small stain or sticky spot can throw off your touchpad's sensitivity, so it is vital that the pad remain clean of all extraneous substances. Re-calibrate your touchpad. Go to the hardware section of the "Mouse" utility (in the Control Panel) and find the device settings. There should be an "Advanced Settings" or "Calibration" utility under this tab. Follow the prompts to calibrate your touchpad for maximum efficiency. Use manual troubleshooting wizard. If you suspect that your computer's software or drivers are at fault, run the manual troubleshooting wizard. Go to the "Mouse" utility (in the Control Panel) and then go to the "Hardware" tab. Select your touchpad and then click on the "Troubleshoot..." button. Follow the prompts to troubleshoot software issues that could make your touchpad jumpy. Reduce cursor speed. In the "Mouse" utility, go to "Pointer options" and reduce the speed. This will prevent the cursor from going too fast when you move your finger on the touchpad, which could be the source of the "jumpy" effect.

Touchpad not working smoothly on dell laptop

Hi all. I was able to fix 2 x E5430 with touchpad unresponsiveness. I tried all other fixes suggested like uninstalling drivers, trying different drivers, adjusting touchpad settings from software, uninstalling antivirus etc, spent 3 days solid on it...ALL TO NO HELP in my 2 E5430's.
..... So I followed a tutorial online to pull apart the touchpad http://blog.parts-people.com/2016/01/25/dell-latitude-e5430-p27g-001-palmrest-touchpad-removal-and-installation/. There is a metallic adhesive that earths the touchpad. Press and rub the adhesive so it makes good contact with chassis it is stuck to, reassemble, that's it! My 2 Dell E5430's now work as expected. No jerks, no unexpected double clicks, no dragging stuff around by accident!!!!! Yah for me!!!

Model: PSR 620. The floppy drive is not working and needs to be replaced. Original floppy drive uses DS DD 720kb floppies. Where can I get a replacement drive? How much does it cost?

The replacement cost of these is prohibitive often greater than $200.

You should try to clean the heads in your drive and see if you can spot a mechanical problem. Clean the heads carefully with 91% isoprophyl alcohol and Tube Gauze on a tongue depressor. Be very careful.

MY Yamaha psr 550 stopped giving sound after cleaning its buttons inside but the beats and other parts are working properly.only the keys are not giving out sound.please tell me how to fix this...

When cleaning buttons HOPEFULLY you did NOT use DeOxit or other contact cleaners like Blue Shower as these can damage the buttons that are conductive rubber.

The conductive rubber buttons should ONLY be cleaned with 99% isoprophyl alcohol and Q Tips. Both the conductive "pill" and the traces they contact on the circuit board should be gently cleaned with the Q Tip wetted with the alcohol.

If you used anything but the 99% isoprophyl alcohol, you can TRY cleaning properly and hopefully they will not have permanent damage.

Couple of keys dont respond well and I tried cleaning pad under keys

The conductive rubber pill contacts AND the traces oin the circuit board should be cleaned with 99% isoprophyl alcohol, nothing else. Use a Q-Tip moistened with the alcohol.

A black streak appears on faxes that we send and on our confirmation page. How do I correct?

If you mean that the receiving party is telling you your fax has lines, then the problem is the scanning glass. Depending on the make and model, you should be able to lift the paper feed assembly on a hinge. If you look inside you'll see a long strip of glass that scans the paper. Chances are that you have specks of white-out or pieces of label stuck to this glass. Clean it carefully with a soft kleenex dipped lightly in either isoprophyl alcohol or Windex. Wipe carefully along the length of the glass, back and forth, until all debris and other stuff is cleaned off the glass. You should be good to go!
