Rexel +100 auto feed shredder cover sensor issue

The sensor for the top cover appears to be faulty causing the shredder to not function. If the top cover is closed with force there is no cover open light and it works. Also if the machine is powered off then back on with paper in it will also work. Once the top cover is opened to load paper the cover/drawer open error is active again.

SOURCE: Paper Shredder will not shut off when in auto mode

if you answer no to the following question, then I do know your solution: Q: When you unplug the unit immediately after your action of "When those paper complete the shredder does not turn off."...and then plug it back in, does the shredder STILL continue to operate? if no, then the solution is to disassemble the feeder unit and manually unclog the paper sensor.

SOURCE: Shredder runs continuously in AUTO position.

There are three reasons why:
1. paper particles or oil are still causing the optics to think you are inserting paper. Remove cover and clean thoroughly!
2. Optics are misaligned.
3. Optics are defective.

SOURCE: Old Rexel 1250 - falsely detecting safety cover is open

You'll have to unplug the machine, then remove the screws front (inside door or cabinet) and rear to remove the top cover. Insure that the safety cover arm which contacts the microswitch is not broken or the microswitch is out of adjustment.

No power. Seems to be overloaded

Check the Power Ensure that the shredder top is firmly placed in the shredder basket if the unit will not operate. If the top is not in place the feeder will not work and accept any paper. Make sure it is firmly plugged into the wall outlet and that the outlet is active. Rest the Shredder Let the shredder cool down if the shredder has been running continuously for a long time. It may have overheated and needs to be left in the off position for at least 30 minutes to reset. Verify the basket is empty or not too full as that will cause the shredder to deactivate. Clear Paper Jam Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear. Auto Mode Not Working Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. The sensor is located in the middle of the feeder tray and could be blocked by jammed paper. Use an index card to firmly unblock any paper that could be blocking the sensor.

Rexel shredder

Spray with WD-40 or similar lubricant/release agent and let it soak for a while, the remove anything that's jamming the sensor with tweezers and switch the unit on and keep cycling between auto and reverse for a minute or two until unit gets unjammed. Then to reduce friction and to protect the blades use some oil in the feed opening, especially after using WD-40 Good luck

Staples SPL -TXC15A Shredder on all the time

This is what worked for me.
1) unplug the shredder
2) put the selector in "auto" position. This pulls back the guard which blocks the paper and hids the sensor.
3) a little right of the center of the paper slot is the sensor. You can feel this by inserting a cotton swab in ths slot.
4) put some alcohol on the cotton swab and clean the sensor!!!!

Also the "bin full" sensors are under the shretter head. You can easily see those when you remove the head from the bin by flipping it over. I would advise cleaning those while you are at it. Mine were covered with dirt and dust.

Hope this helps!!
