Embroider on #1+:
If it's a #1+ I recommend the Q (the spring works better) it's hard to put on, but worth it.
Here we go:
1>Turn off machine (always when installing or removing embroidery unit)
2>Install Q Foot. Always leave presser foot pressure (on left end of machine) at 6 for presser foot Q
3>Insert Embroidery Card
4>Insert Embroidery cassette (matching #’s with card)
5>turn on machine
6>Turn on embroidery unit (on cassette)
7>Select design
7>Thread for color 1
8>press reverse to start the machine embroidering....weeeeeeeee!

How do I move the presser foot on a Husqvarna Viking Emerald 116 sewing machine?

Not sure what exactly you need to know. Are you trying to lift the presser foot or change the presser foot to another one? If it is lifting, there will be a lever of some kind behind the machine. On one of my Husqvarna machines it was a big flat "paddle" shaped lever, not sure what shape it is on the Emerald machines. Lift the lever from the bottom upwards and outwards. Most Husqvarna machines have clip on-and-off feet. You just gently pull forwards on the foot (while the presser foot is raised) to remove it, then push the new one on making sure the small bar part of the presser foot goes into the clip on the presser foot ankle.

I own a Viking Husqvarna 6440 sewing machine. I

The feed dogs are not working in conjunction with needle because of the bulk. The bulkiness especially at the seams causes a shift under the pressure foot and the bobbin spins off excessive thread. When you get to the seam, you need to raise the presser foot so it goes over the seam evenly. Get a jeanajig or use something that will level off the presser foot as it goes over and as it comes off the seam. Also trim some of the bulk off before you fold the hem over to sew it.

Cannot embroider at all.

does the e have any numbers with it, like E11 or E13? Check to see if you need to raise your presser foot, or try resetting the machine. I know how frustrating this can be, I too am having problems with my machine.. it's a love/ hate relationship between us..lol

Viking Designer 1 presser foot will not stay down

The foot should come up slightly above the fabric when in embroidery mode. If not, the fabric could not move.
The foot should come up the same distance that it would if you were to put the foot in the pivot position while sewing. If it is coming up more than that, then you have a problem and will need to see and authorized technician.

Viking Designer 2 service mode

Hold down the start/stop button and the presser foot pivot button at the same time and turn the power on. You may need to try it a few times.
Hope that helps.

Fabric stuck when sewing

Several things could be happening. It may be the hook/needle timing. Or it could be the feeddogs are not moving (that's the toothy looking part under the presser foot that moves the fabric). Recommend removing thread and bobbin (needle and presser foot). Slowly move the handwheel and put your finger on top of the feeddogs to determine if they are moving back and forth and are high enough to move the fabric. Check to make sure you had not manually lowered the feed dogs. You may need to take it to an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for their assistance. You can find the closest dealer at the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us
