Question about Kenmore 15864/15862 Top Load Washer
My son overloaded the washer with a duvet. Now it will spin light load ok but you have to be standing there and give it a spin when you hear the click with a full load.
The washer is only 18 months old GE model WLDSR416F3WC
Sounds as though your son damaged the transmission. If I were you I would take it out of his allowance...just kidding. A cheap thing that it could be that you may want to check though is your agitator dogs. Inside the agitator at the top are agitator dogs that have little teeth on them to catch the agitator and make it spin and agitate. Pop off the top where the fabric softener goes in and check them and see if they are catching. If not, if they look damaged and the teeth look worn then easy 5 dollar fix. Buy some new ones and replace them. If they look good though then your son damaged the transmission by overloading it and that is going to cost you between 150 and 250 dollars depending on if you get a refurbished one or not. If it's only 18 months old though you may still have a warranty on it and in that case take it back and don't say anything about the duvet. Just say one day it stopped working. You may be able to at least get it fixed for cheaper or free in that case. Again, just don't say what happened, as far as you know, it was working and then one day it just stopped. Hope this helps you and if you have anymore questions let me know. I will get a notification if you post something else to this. Good luck.
