SOURCE: have a poulan chainsaw that won't idle/stay

no carb ajustment is done with a flat head screwdriver, first i would remove the card, disassemble it and blast it with compressed air because its probably just clogged up with varnish. to ajust the high low and idle screws bottom both out ( turn in all the way) then unscrew each one turn. from there start the saw and loosen in 1/4 turn at a time until it runs well

SOURCE: My chainsaw will start but it boggs down and shuts

Could be not getting enough fuel. Check pick up tubing and filter in tank. Or could b the choke is not opening. You didn't mention what brand but some saws have a spring that returns the choke to the open position. If its not in place, then even with the choke lever in the open position the choke is not. Remove cover and observe the position to the choke plate. If the saw has been sitting, then a good carb cleaning is in order.

What causes it to stall when trigger pulled?

Generally lack of fuel..

Pulling on the trigger doesn't increase the fuel getting into the engine like you'd think. The trigger opens up a butterfly valve which allows more air to be drawn in, this in turn draws more fuel through the carb. So if its bogging down when the throttle is pulled then generally it because not enough fuel is being drawn through b the air.. meaning there's too much air to fuel mix to burn effectively. This also can work the other way if the air filter is blocked or the exhaust is blocked with carbon deposits.

The throttle trigger will not work on my 235e husqvarna

I'm guessing from the statement that it "will not work to increase speed" that you have been able to successfully start the chainsaw.
I have to look at this with the assumption that you haven't run a chain saw before, so bear with me if some of this is excessively simple.
If the throttle trigger does not move, something is jammed. The handle for the choke should automatically move to the retracted position when you pull on the throttle. If it doesn't, see if the trigger will move after you push the choke handle back in.
If the trigger moves in when you squeeze it but you don't hear any change in the engine sound then it's probable that the throttle wire has disconnected at the carburetor or at the handle.
Is the chain brake off? You need to pull it firmly back toward the upper handle for it to be disengaged. If the handle is forward it will lock the outer portion of the clutch. If you try to accelerate with it locked the engine will bog and not allow the chain to move.
Any of these conditions other than the chain brake will probably require some disassembly. Make sure you're confident that you've correctly reassembled everything if you're going to do it yourself.
