Motherboard should have the pins labeled. POW+ POW-

Colored wire is + Black is - although the power switch doesn't really matter. Same with the LEDs they can be reversed and it wont hurt anything or work differently.

You should be able to see the words/letters that go with the jumpers on the motherboard itself. look around the jumper settings area for power, pwr etc. and match them up with your jumpers which should have what the go to on them.

SOURCE: emachine t1840 wiring diagram power switch wire to mother board ?

Because there are so many different case and motherboard combinations sometimes it can be difficult following the instructions for connecting the front panel, USB header and audio header.

Below is a few generic guide that should stop some of the confusion with the labels on the wires.

usbheadersetup.jpg

Front Panel Audio

***Please note this is a generic wiring guide and we can not guarantee it will work with every motherboard. Please check your motherboard manual first. Wiring the headers wrong can cause damage to the motherboard and case, this damage is not covered by the warranty***

another handy USB wiring guide can be found here http://www.directron.com/installusb.html

this maybe easier to follow

I need the wiring diagram for the motherboard which I am replacing with a new motherboard

MOST of the time there will be a diagram in the booklet that comes with the new motherboard. If you bought it second hand or the booklet isn't in the box I will need the make and model board you are using to put into the unit and the tower specs. That way I can be 100% on the diagram.

Hope this helps.

Need wiring diagram for client pro 365

What was your original MOBO? It should help you identify the connections to your chassis/front panel.

Typically you will have USB, audio, ground, power supply and switching/reset lines.

Often the connectors are not compatible and you need to improvise.

A manual appears to be here for Intel 915GRV uATX Motherboard (ClientPro 365) (MBD001246-00):

Use at your own risk. MPC died some years back and this is the official MPC/Gateway support site per Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPC_Corporation

Look for a make and model number and version number on the motherboard, gateway use various manufactures motherboards.
Then go to the makers website and look in the support section for the moherboard manual. Most motherboards have the connections marked on the board in very small print.

HDD and reset light on intel p4 82845 mother board

Hi pc_ski,
Download the manual for your board, click on this PDF link.
http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D845GLLY/ADLY_English.pdf

See page 64 first for the layout of the front panel header. The block you need to refer to is letter C. Here you'll see where pin one is located at.
Go to page 65. Table 32 shows the pin assignments for the front panel header. Pin-1 & pin-2 is for the HDD & pin-7 & pin-8 for reset switch.

Have more questions? Post here.
Good luck pc_ski!

I installed a new wireless network card....when removing the outer cover of my pavilion xe734 a black and red wire came loose...it has 3 pins holes a white solid blank then 5 pin holes...i cannot figure...

if the wire is coming from the front bezel of the computer it sounds like your front panel connections. They connect to the motherboard and control your power button and lights. That would explain why it won't power on too! Unfortunately all motherboard connect to the front in different places, but it will always be on the outer edge of the board usually near the bottom of the tower. Try seeing which pins on the board match up. Hope this helps!

Wiring off the tower

The 2 grey wires with the 4 pin connectors would be for the USB ports at the front of the tower. They need to be connected to the motherboard usb pin outs. Usually marked on motherboard as "USB1", "USB2" etc. Generally the red wire should be the "power" and goes to pin1 or 2 on the connector. Pin 1 is normally marked by a thick line on the board at that end of the connector, but it's easier to say Pin1 is the opposite end to the single pin on it's own (which isnt used). You really should check the manual for the board to confirm the connections though.

NEED SCHEMATIC FOR EMACHINE T2984

If you look closely, you would see written: power, reset, hdd led, power led(normally at the left bottom corner of the motherboard). If you look at the mapping well, you will see where how each double pins represents one of these. Simple slot the power button wiring into the one that maps with the power position.

You can also test this by touching the two pins together with with a metal say, a screw driver. If its the power, the machine will turn on.

New Problem

The manual you need will be on the board manufacturers web page, howevr I will bet you have the case power switch and perhaps the reset switch on the wrong pins on the mother board. To check this, remove the switch leads from the mother board, then use a small screw driver and bridge the pins on the mother board a pair at a time. All of these leads plug on to the board in a line and not across the two lines of pins. when you get the mother board to fire up by this method geet a torch and look closely alongside the pins you will see the letters PWR SW or RS SW. It does not matter what polarity these two sets of leads are plugged onto both will work. The LED lights on the case front will only work if the polarity is correct but it will not do any harm if they are backwords. On the board you should se two sets of pins marked HDD and PWR these are the led light pins you will know you have them right when the usual red and green lights are working at the front of your tower.
