Furuno 1930 radar magnetron does not heat

I need to know which wires supply the power to the magnetron heater. The scanner ( open array ) does not work properly when it is cold out, but works great when it is hot out. I see that in the bottom of the scanner there are 2 wire that are not connected? Possibly they supply the power to the magnetron heater?

If the radar shows targets at all, the magnetron is properly connected. There are only 2 wires to the magnetron. The heater voltage and input signal are both on the same pair.

No heading pulse

Open the dome cover and check the belt that spins the array. Sometimes the gear on the motor that holds the belt comes loose and will not spin the array. I have seen this on 4 radars and all were about the same age. The gear has a small allen head set screw. Move the gear down and tighten the screw down. If you are still having issues there are some more troubleshooting techniques you can do, but you will need a multimeter to test voltages coming from the display.

My ship furuno radar hasn no sweep only a center dot.all other fed in information like speed,GPS input o.k.

The symptom you describe sounds like a case of no radar targets. To further diagnose, put radar on the longest range and turn Gain to full, Sea Clutter to Minimum, Rain Clutter to Minimum, and observe the screen. The presence of "grass" or evenly distributed clutter indicates that the receiver and cabling is good and the radar may not be transmitting. No transmit is caused by a bad magnetron or a bad modulator in the antenna, or depending on model there is still an outside chance that the power supply in the display has failed.

Furuno 1942 MK2 : The radar don't show any echos on the screen.

The gain truned up and filling the screen with dots tells me the M.I.C. is Ok. Since you array fills with water, there is a very very good chance that the wave guide has given up. A good tell tale sign is that there is white powder laying on rectangular aperture located in the center when you raise the lid on the chassis. A new Array will probably be needed and that will cost you anywhere from $800.00 to 1200.00 just for the part. The water is probably getting in from the array from a bad install as well. normally the chasiss does not leak unless you did something wrong.

Hi, Furuno 1731 radar - no sweep/echo seen on screen. Scanner is rotating and other display is normal.

Go to longest range and full Gain min Rain and Sea Clutter
Do you have speckle? Yes = Receive OK, Wiring OK,No transmit (magnetron or modulator) No = Most likely a broken wire
There is a very tiny coax (shielded wire) that is know to lose its' center conductor, which is very delicate

Furuno radar 1621 do not show targets

You may have a faulty magnetron or one that has gotten old. They do have a life. Find out how many hours you have on the unit and give furuno a call. They will more than likely tell you what they think the problem is.

RADAR WILL SHOW CLUTTER AND NOISE WHEN GAIN IS TURNED UP BUT THE UNIT WILL NOT PICK UP ANY OBJECTS.... LAND, RAIN EXE.... WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS

If the radar has over 2000 hours it may need a magnetron replacement. Mid-Shore Electronics in Maryland can provide that service if you require it.

Connecting power inside Furuno DRS4D

polarity is maked on the shield, on a sticker #1 is positive, #2 negative BTW, this is 48V DC (not 12V) supplied from a MFD8, MFD12, or MFDBB only.
