Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

My Vizio E470VL turns on for 3 seconds showing the Vizio logo, then turns off. I think I accidentally locked the input by trying to change the video source. Is there any way to fix this?

I tried unplugging, then holding the power button for 60 sec., then turning it on. I also tried unplugging all chords, and replugging to reboot, but still no luck.

SOURCE: Power is there, but TV won't turn on

stored voltages are high no touching these circuts becuase they hold charges and alot of screws.
fualty capacitors you say after a while it stays on theres a full charge in the unit theres some type of discharging effect on the set after its off for a while. voltage goes to low or unstable after it is off for a while. your better off getting the service docs for this set if you want to diy..other wise get a tv tech to check it for you. hope this helps

SOURCE: It won't turn on

I replaced 3 capacitors and fixed this problem. They were 1-10v 1000uF and 2- 10v 3300uF electrolitic board mount capacitors. Easy to spot on the power board, the tops were bulged up. $5.54 later it works perfectly now.

SOURCE: television will not turn after a 10 minute power outage

Depending on what made the power outage, your power supply might have got fried. It might be as simple as a few capacitors blowing or a little more serious. I would suggest taking it to a repair shop. A power supply replacement will run you about 200-250. If its just a few capacitors, should be around 100.

Vizio model M320SR has black screen but has sound. V logo appears when tv is first turned on then goes away.

If there is no video but you have audio or you have intermittent video:
  1. Press and hold the mute button on the VIZIO remote for 3 to 5 seconds. Some VIZIO TV's have a "Mute Screen" feature that turns the screen off if you are streaming an audio application (Pandora, Spotify, etc) and don't want the screen on. To activate/deactivate this feature, hold the mute button for 3-5 seconds.
  2. Turn the TV off and unplug it. Press the power button on the side of the TV for 30 seconds. Let go of the power button and plug the TV back in.
  3. Check the connections between the TV and device. Ensure the cord is connected securely to the TV and the source device.
  4. Try a second device. (Example: If the issue happens on a Cable/Satellite box, try using a DVD player or gaming system to see if the issue occurs there.)
    1. If the issue occurs on multiple devices there is an issue with your TV. Please contact Support by Clicking Contact at the bottom of the page or give us a call Monday - Friday from 7am - 11pm Central Time or Sat. & Sun. from 9am to 6pm Central Time at 855-833-3221.
    2. If the issue only occurs on one device the issue is not with the TV but with the device or the cables used to connect it to the TV.

Can you help me fix my TV?

because television circuit boards are available off the internet, people think they can repair their own televisions. The course to become a television engineer is 2 years full time. Time and time again we see people who have spent hundreds of dollars changing one board after another and still can't get the set to work. My advice is look at Google and find a television repair engineer in your town, or take it back to the shop where you bought it if they take on repairs.

Try this though

How to fix a Vizio TV?
Power cycling can solve a lot of odd problems with Vizio TVs. First disconnect the TV's power cord from the power outlet and leave it unplugged. Then press and hold the power button on the TV for 10 seconds. After you have held the button for 10 seconds, let go then try to power the TV on.

Have a Vizio VX37L that when it is turned the

HERE'S THE FIX: I just went through this with my Vizio VX37L. TV is stuck in RGB input. This is the fix.... TV is stuck in RGB input.
(option 1) Power on TV, and press the INPUT button repeatedly and rapidly until you can change to a different input, such as AV.
If that doesn't work, try:
(option 2) With the TV off, press and hold the INPUT button on the side of the TV for about 5 seconds. The TV should power on and the input list will appear. The TV will no longer be locked, and the INPUT button should function properly after that.

Option 2 worked for me!
