Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook

2 Answers

My hp dv 1000 notebook will not boot up.

It boots as far as windows & goes to start up page with all text.
Start up normally, safe mode etc. that page.
I've click them all at different times & I get to blue screen indicating there's a problem. At that point & the whole process starts to repeat itself.
P.S.
A new harddrive was installed 2 months ago.
Any help would be appreciated.

I service PCs, years ago for pay, now for friends. I have had so much trouble with HP recovery disks and consequently, HP hardware, I refuse to touch them any more.
I suggest you check the integrity of the installation disks on a working computer and then try reinstalling everything. The last HP I serviced necessitated THREE 8 disk sets to get ONE 8 disk set of uncorrupted disks. One of the sets the original, two others straight from HP.

It could be that the hard drive drivers may be incorrect, if it started when you got the new hard drive its probably that. So update the driver or reinstall the drivers again,

or

try reinstalling Windows from scratch. (note- this may cause you to lose data).

If you are using XP then as the computer boots press F2 or F1 or DEL which ever key you need to get into the bios and set the boot options to CDrom as first priorty. Then place your XP disk into the drive and reboot. When asked if you want to boot with cd support say yes, then when the XP disk opens choose to repair your version of windows. It sounds like you may have some corrupt files. If you are using Vista, have you had any problems with updates?

Black screen says multi(0) disk(0) rdisk(0) partition(2)\WINDOWS\system32

So far I see no problem. For some reason. you chose to boot Windows in safe mode. During that boot mode, the screen goes black and starts displaying lines of text detailling all the drivers it is loading. At the end of the process Windows will run in safe mode.
Try rebooting normally or rebooting to the last good configuration that worked.
If there are problems please be more specific.

Windows will not load can not get to desk top .notebook start files and or boot log is corrupt.system will not boot .windows 7 was just installed.

AS YOU ON THE SYSTEM AND EVEN BEFORE WINDOWS STARTS KEEP PRESSING THE F8 KEY CONTINUEOUSLY. A MENU WILL APPEAR. SELECT SAFE MODE AND ENTER. WINDOWS WILL LOAD IN SAFE MODE. THIS WILL SOLVE SOME OF YOUR PROBLEMS. NOW RESTART THE SYSTEM IN NORMAL MODE.

IF THIS DOES NOT WORK SELECT "LOAD WINDOWS WITH LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION " AND THEN RESTART. THIS WILL SURELY SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEM.

hi blinkgirl556

was there a new hardware that was added to your laptop? bluescreens often are caused by hardware.
while the laptop is booting up when you are asked for options on how to start you computer is there an option for start windows using last known configuration? if there is try that and if it still goes into bluescreen you may want to try and recover your laptop using the hp recovery cd or recovery tool. if it still doesn't work most likely you have a bad memory chip.

hope this helps

Start up problem!!

When you boot up start pressing F8 and you should get a Windows startup page with more options. If you do select Safe Mode
When windows has loaded, goto MSConfig and select Diagnostic Startup. Ok and reboot
See if windows boots normally.
