Question about PC Desktops

Sound issues I have a new pavilion a 6542p pc. The speakers are altec lansing and its 4 speakers connected to a larger box. Is this a subwoofer? There is no speaker on the larger box. I cannot get good sound. I did have pretty good sound from them but the volume seemed lower & lower, I've tried everything and have no sound at all now. Any suggestions?

The larger box is the subwoofer. the speaker is in the box with no obvious grill because it is used for bass and the box contains a "maze" through which the sound travels before exiting the bottom (usually) of the box. to resolve the issue, go into the control panel, then hardware, then device manager. locate the heading SOUND DEVICES. click the heading to drop down the devices that are under this heading. right click on the first item in the list and select...UNINSTALL DRIVER. confirm the removal and move on to the next, doing the same until no devices remain under the SOUND DEVICES heading. Reboot the computer and let Windows reinstall the devices. On the speakers, set the volumn controls at halfway. On the subwoofer set all controls to halfway. Now, play a CD.......

The problem is not the speakers its the driver and best way to do is go in control panel/system/device manager and uninstall, then reboot and then it should re install the driver right.Come visit us at the link below.

How do i hook up two altec lansing speakers and

Depending on the sound card installed in your system, integrated into the motherboard or not, you may need a "Y" splitter adapter. Typically, the subwoofer has a black plug while the regular speakers have a green plug. The red color is a new one on me, but let's assume that it is the subwoofer. If you have a black outlet on your computer, plug the red one into that outlet.

If your speakers came with your system, HP would have provided you with proper adapters to make the speakers work for whichever speaker system you have. If you have any "Y" adapters, use them.

My Altec lansing multi media ada 745 just stopped working all of a sudden. It doesn't work for all media ie. ipod, tv, computer. We can hardly hear it. I changed the fuse but it still doesn't work. Wh

unplug the power from the speakers, reseat the all the connections for the satellite speakers, ensure the power switch on both the subwoofer and the Right Front Speaker are in the ON position.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, then you are most likely going to need to replace the speakers, as the fuse is the only serviceable componet.

My Altec Lansing ADA745 speakers have stopped working. I probably downloaded some other software that overrode the Dell speaker installation. How do I reinstall the Altec Lansing ADA745 speakers?

The speakers are probably fine. What you probably need to do is to reinstall the sound drivers on your dell.

You need the model of your dell pc and go to the dell website and find download and install the sound drivers for your system.

The model of your pc will be needed if any more assistance is needed.
