Question about Toshiba 42H83 42" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
My toshiba 42h83 has a red irregular shaped area in the middle of the screen. at first i thought the kids used markers on the screen but after removing the screen and cleaning it and the lenses the problem still remains. there is also faint green green lines in the background
You most likely have a burn in on the surface of one of the picture tubes. What you need to do to confirm this, would be to take off the front screen, and with the set turned on, look directly into each one of the lenses, and see if you see a mark on the green or the blue tube. if this is the case, and I am pretty sure it is, the picture tube will need to be replaced, but this set is not a young thing, as the green faint lines is most likely a bad capacitor in the screen drive circuit. If the picture tube is indeed burned on the surface, most likely be better off buying a new TV set. Good Luck
