Question about JVC LT-40X776 40 in. LCD HDTV

Power but no pic or sound

Turn on TV. Illumination Lamp comes on but no sound nor picture. We cannot turn off the set. After approximately 1 minute the Illumination lamp starts blinking. Set has worked well for 9 months. A few times in the past the same symptons occured but we could unplug then plug the set back in and that would remedy the problem. Tried it many times to day with no success. Also have tried pressing the control and volume buttons simultaneously as recommended in the book. Have switched cables coming from the Dish and Switched control boxes (DirectTV)

Re: Power but no pic or sound

If the set is only 9 months old, you should call for warranty service right away as this coiuld be a costly problem. This problem sounds like the main board is bad and you will be looking to pay about 500 to 600 bucks if you do not get it repaired under the warranty. Good Luck

If the power light blinks slowly,

you've tried to turn on the TV during

the lamp cooldown cycle. Wait

approximately 30 seconds, and the TV
will turn on automatically.

If light blinks, pauses for about a

minute, and blinks again: the lamp is

trying to turn on (TV will turn on

when successful). If TV doesn't turn

on and sequence continues, the lamp also
needs to be replaced.

To order lamp call 1-800-338-0376.

Have your TV serial number

and lamp type available (you'll

find this information on the

sticker that's on the right side of
the TV).

Had continous red blinks on lamp led replaced lamp and ballast, now have 5 blinks on power led still no picture or sound

Try connecting the TV directly to a different wall outlet and check. If the issue persists, try power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue persists, then the TV requires service.

When I go to turn on my Vizio 32' Model VP322 HDTV10A, it half turns on then back off, repeatedly for 3 minutes before turning on. How can I fix this problem?

If you are not able to hear sound during the this process, the power supply of the TV is likely failing.

If you are able to hear sound during the 3 minute ordeal, then likely the inverter for the backlight is failing, which can also be caused by a failing lamp as well.

Try this: turn the TV on, wait for it to do its thing. Goto the menus, picture settings, and turn the brightness *down* as far as it will go. Exit out of the menu (save if prompted). Turn the TV off, wait a bit, then back on. If still same issue, it could be the power supply or inverter / lamp assembly. But, if the cycle is shorter, or comes on right away, then it is likely the lamp / inverter.

Hard to get started when powering up to watch.

definitely, something wrong with it. TV shouldn't take more then a few seconds to start, I suggest, while it still under warranty, give Sharp a call to get it fixed.

Hdtv-dlp has no sound or picture

this sounds like a dmd board problem. these are digital modules attached to the light engines usually. samsung, rca, hitachi, have shown similiar symptoms. some units have capacitors on the boards that can be replaced, but these are dual-layer pcb's that are tough to unsolder without proper soldering iron temperature and good small gauge solder-wick. or solder pump tool. the electolytic caps. are usually 1000uf / 10v, 330uf / 10v, or 470uf / 10v. alot of the time the capacitors will "vent" or swell-up on top which helps spot faulty component. we always increase voltage rating to 16v-25v for more reliable operation. always use 105 degrees high- temperature replacement caps.

Hitachi lcd 50" model 50V500A - turn off & on

Best advice I have is to price shop for lamp online using lamp or model number. Now it could be lamp or ballast or dmd causing this. But most common is lamp and you will need one sometime anyway. Very easy to change. Also probably a parts dist. in your area stocks it. Good luck.
