Re: kenmore dryer 70 series runs for 20 mins then turns...
It sounds like the timer to me!
With the old timers you could open it up and spray it with a can ot electrical cleaner (same as they sell for computers) and a lot of the time it would fix the problem!
This might also work on the circuit boards of a new washer!
Cost about $10.
Hope this was helpful!

Yes it deffinetley sounds like you may have a timer issue, if your timer stops and the dryer is running, or if the timer keeps going around and around this will be the problem, however there are thermostats inside the dryer and if you have it set on a HEAT and not a TIMED setting the thermostats won't advance the timer because they havent been set.Hope this helps
If it's gas, the coil valves get weak and are unable to hold themselves open when hot. First, check the exhaust vent. If it's clogged, it can't remove heat and it will shut off prematurely. Most likely the coil valves though.
Can't really tell without a little more information. It could be the timer, it could be something more too though. You dryer could be over heating due to clogged vents or a bad thermostat. If that is the case it would shut off your dryer for safety reasons. Check the air flow coming from the dryer to the outside. If it feels slow and weak then that is most likely your problem. You would just need to get it cleaned out. Let me know if you have any other questions and let me know if this was helpful. Good luck and I'm happy to be able to help out.
THE TIMER HAS A SMALL DRIVE MOTOR THAT TURNS THE TIMER AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS FOR DIFFERENT CYCLES AND VARIES FROM BRAND TO BRAND BUT EITHER WAY YOU MUST REPLACE THE TIMER , EXPENSIVE FIX IF THE DRYER IS WORTH IT THAT SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM
Hi, the problem with the dryer not stopping is most likely the switch that controls when it starts. This switch is located behind the button you would push in to start the dryer, and if you can take off the rear panel and get to it, you can most likely adjust the internal contacts so that they don't continuously make contact. Or you could just replace the switch, which might be easier!
