I need to replace the water distributor that sits above the wash powder dispenser. I beleive I need to take the lid off. Have unscrewed the retaining screws at the back so the back of the top is free but don't want to force the front. Please help.

Disconnect first the mains, power plug off the wall. You could have a clog in your soap drawer; pull the dispenser drawer completely out. There is a tab that needs to be depressed to release the drawer to remove. Clean the soap drawer with an old tooth brush. The usual block could be old soap, softener, etc. (you could also be using too much soap powder). I usually use just above 125ml (my measure cup says ml, I use front loader powder for the 5.5kg load) The wash is very gud. This is the normal issue that will cause water to leak out of the dispenser housing. Wash the dispenser drawer thoroughly with warm water. Make sure that you pull off the siphon covers and wash all siphon holes. This process is described in your owner's manual. Next could be one of hoses has become loose, should be re-fixed. Examine by removing top of the front loader; this will give you a gud view of the pipes. If helped, click.
From your comment the water feed into the wash powder section of the dispenser tray is not working properly. Follow these instructions for first removing the dispenser and thoroughly cleaning and then clean all of the jets where the water is supposed to enter. Afterwards replace the dispenser;-0)
Try the following- in the second and third cases whilst looking from underneath!
push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit). You may have to push the bottom of the dispenser upwards.
lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath. Again you may have to push the bottom of the dispenser upwards.
Pull out the dispenser drawer far enough to be able to just see the trays, select each part of the cycle in turn (briefly to save time) and check that water is entering the trays. If it isn't there is a fault with the water distribution and an engineer call is required ;-0(
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
It seems that your problem is with the lid switch and it should be replaced.
The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. You have to raise the top of the washer to get to the switch.
are the holes that spray out the water partially blocked? if so the water will spray out at every angle filling all the tray slots. try popping out the soap tray and cleaning above it with a stiff washing up brush and then reducing the water pressure by turning the tap off a bit.
