SOURCE: handwheel is tight and will

Try clearing out all of your lint, pieces of thread and debris from the bobbin area. If that doesn't work, then you may need to have your machine cleaned. I had the same problem with my machine, and took it to my repair guy. He told me that the mechanism of the machine was packed tight with lint and "stuff" that had worked in. After a thorough cleaning, the machine ran like new.
You may also want to try to completely unthread the machine and rethread it (both top and bobbin). Sometimes that works.

Slacken the stop motion as if to wind a bobbin and press on the foot control, if the motor runs really fast then you have either thread stuck in the bobbin case area or you may need to oil the machine

Tesco ej09 sewing machine - handwheel wont turn

I actually had the same problem, it turned out that after threading a bobbin I'd forgot to slide the bobbin holder back into place (just push it to the left) Hope this helps

The belt on my consew 7360 sewing machine wont turn handwheel when pressing foot pedal to stitch.

Your belt may be to tight you can loosen the belt at the wheel under the table. Loosen the screws and shift so the belt loosens.

Model no. 158.17741. the belt is moving, the motor is running, but the part that goes up and down with the thread is not, the belt seems to be tight enough

Check the centre of the handwheel, there will either be A) an inner wheel or B) push/pull device to disengage the needle arm when bobbin winding....it needs to be A) tight, or B) pressed in to re-engage the clutch for sewing......your manual will probably have a diagram,
I could not find a picture of this model, so unsure of the exact mechanism, but it is in the middle of the handwheel

How do i thread this? need visual guide please. i can hear something moving, but pedal isn't going up/down.

The "pedal" is the foot pedal and it powers the machine and does not go up and down.

The needle and needle bar go up and down.

If there is a smaller wheel in the center of the handwheel (wheel on the right side of the sewing machine), make sure it is tight. Turn to the right (toward the back of the machine).

You can find threading, bobbin winding instructions and a manual at the Singer Company website.

Hello! I found a Bernina 830 at a thrift store today, and I bought it in spite of the fact that it doesn't work. I am hoping to find out what may be wrong so I (or someone else) can fix it. The problem is...

Hello Sara,
Sounds like there is thread jammed in the bobbin case area, take out the bobbin and bobbin case and make sure it is clean, also make sure the stop motion on the machine is tight, turn the balance wheel backwards if you can that should free off any jammed thread.

The foot pedal does not make the machine sew but it sounds like the motor is working. The machine does work when you manually turn the hand wheel. It was working before I put the cover on the machine.

Is the belt broken ?
Unplug, remove the side panel at handwheel and check....use the old one as a sample to take with you to buy a new one...DO NOT adjust the belt too tight on installation, it will overburden the motor.....or have the repair shop do the job for a little investment in peace of mind

Belts intact, press on pedal, motion in belts, but not on needle end

does the needle go up and down when you turn the handwheel by hand? if so, one of the belts may be slipping - tighten it enough to make it grab.

if the handwheel does not make the needle go up and down, is the handwheel lock for bobbin winding un-locked? if so tighten the handwheel lock inside the handwheel. if the handwheel lock is tightened and the handwheel spins when motor runs the handwheel lock is asembled incorrectly. if this is the case, undo screw in handwhhel lock nut and spin lock nut off machine, then remove pronged washer and turn 1/3 turn and re-install.

Singer model ce100 does not sew with pedal

Check your feed dogs. On the front, left at the bottom is a manaul switch. If you push it to the right it drops the feed dogs, for embroidery and when you push it left it lift the feed dogs. Just remember to turn the handwheel towards you after switching it to the left, until you hear a clicking sound and the feed dogs engage. Hope this solves your problem.
