Depending on type of antenna you have on the box the signal maybe too weak. But first try to lock channel 03 into your set. go to menu and add 03 where it has add/delete channels. If this still does not work select channel 04 and set your converter box switch to channel 4. This should do it.

Everytime I press remote channel 3 keeps showing up

A television set usually receives a signal from a cable box, DVD player, etc., on a specific TV channel. Channel 3 is the most commonly used for this purpose. So when you press certain buttons on the remote, the TV tells you "Hey! Somebody selected TV Channel 3!" This is normal-- IF the remote you're using is a remote for the cable box, DVD, etc. If you get this and you don't have a cable box or other signal source, then something else is wrong... maybe you're using the wrong remote?

Can I program a ds converter box with an rca universal remote ? I only get 4 channels. The remote was given to me and it did not come with a remote.

Check the antenna connection to the DS Box. If the external antenna is not pointed to the majority of the station transmitters, the DS box may indeed only "see" 4 channels with sufficient signal strength.

Remote was lost. Tried to adjust the station and now I cannot get the TV to go to channel 3 so converter box will not work. Itied a universal remote did not work. Help

I assume, that the TV is skipping chan 3 when using the Channel buttons on the TV.

You can try 2 things.. First see if your converter box will use chn 4. Usually there will be a very small switch on the back of the box marked with a small 3 on one side and 4 on the other. If so, use that till you get a replacement remote.

If that's not an option, you can also, Re-scan the channels on the TV. to find all available chn for memory.. BUT FIRST making sure that the converter box is on and working.
The TV shuold then detect that there is a signal on chn 3 and make it available to the chn buttons on the set.

You will have to use the menu buttons on the set to do this.. Hopefully one of the buttons is the menu call up, then you use vol or chn buttons to navigate it.
Hope this helps

Digital converter box worked with RCA analog TV and outside antenna. Had to unplug both for some work in house; when we plugged everything back in, there is no digital input. I checked everything over many...

Make sure you have an ANT. connected to the INPUT on digital converter box....then OUTPUT that signal to the INPUT of your TV....put TV on channel 3 or 4 or put TV on VIDEO if using red, white and yellow wires...power up and program converter box for channels....should work... if not try a set of rabbit ears instead of outside ant.

Good day,
I might be missing something here, but if YourTV has the basic controls on the TV itself, such as on/off volume, and channel select, then just turn on tv, and set it to channel 3.
Use your converter box remote to scan for channels, and other options it has as needed.

Programming RCA converter box remote control with Phil/Mag TV---

Good day,
You should have the instruction guide. If not look below. It's there but look closely for the guide itself and how to increase it's size to readable.

Check on the back of the TV to see if there is a 3 and 4 setting, If so, set to 3.
With nothing connected to the tv, and using the tv's remote, scan for channels. It should come up with only channel 3.
Then using the remote with advanced options, set the the input to either antenna or auto.

Connect the antenna cable to input on the converter box. Using the supplied cable connect the output from the converter box to
the TV. Turn the TV on first, followed by the converter box.
Then follow the instructions.

Not really easy so you'll have to fight your way thru it.
Finding the right setting for the antenna will probably take the most time, requiring a station scan after each adjustment.

Smart antenna

Just because you got lots more channels with the old analog broadcasts, it doesn't mean you can get that many with digital. With analog, you could get a watchable picture from a distant station even if it was weak. It just meant the picture might be a little snowy or fuzzy. It's a lot different with digital.

Digital reception is pretty much "all or nothing". That means either you get the channel or you get a "no signal" message. If the signal from the antenna is too weak, unlike the analog fuzzy picture there is nothing at all.

10 channels isn't a bad number, by the way. A lot of people are finding they get far fewer than that, even no channels at all. It all depends on your distance and direction from the station. If you go to and click on "choose an antenna", they can help you determine what stations are on the air around your area, how far away they are, and what type of antenna would be required.

The "best" antenna is the one that gets the strongest signal from the most stations. For your specific location, this might be as simple as amplified rabbit-ears. Or it might mean a large rooftop antenna that you can turn to point right at the station. That option may not be available to an apartment dweller. You might just already have the best you'll get if you're getting 10 channels already.

I installed the converter box on channel 3 instead of channel 4

No reason to delete converter box from channel 3. Most converter boxes have a selection switch on the back for channel 3 or channel 4. Slide switch to 4 and set tv to 4.
