My Acer Sound force 550 computer speakers do not work.

The light on the power button does not turn on when I push the button in; I have tried all the troubleshooting from my computer. Do I have it plugged in incorrectly. It seems like there isn't any choice: one speaker has to be plugged into the other where it says "To L Spk" -- and the other speaker is plugged into the computer on the buttom of the three holes where this size plug can be inserted. This is probably stupidity on my part! Please help. Thank you. Nancy Hartford

Probably the power adapter has failed, check that its pluged in properly and reconnect it.

if the power adapter is fine, the board may have fried on the speaker and its not turning on.

The speakers wont work no sound

This article contains tips for resolving sound related issues in Windows XP.
No Sound From all speakers
  • Check that the speakers are powered on.
  • Check that the speakers are connected to the correct ports on the PC. This is particularly important If the customer has both integrated sound and a sound card.
  • If the speakers have a volume control button - ensure that this is turned up.
  • Check that the Windows Audio service is running. If this is not running then many of the subsequent troubleshooting steps will not work. Go to Start->Run and type services.msc. Double cliick on Windows Audio. Select Start if possible and check that the Startup Type is Automatic. Click OK.
  • If the speakers are digital speakers then try forcing the sound card to use digital. Go to Start->Control Panel->Sound and Audio Devices.. On the Volume tab, click the Advanced button in the Device Volume section. In the Volume Control window, below the Play Control Volume slider, click Advanced. If this does not show select Advanced Controls from the Options menu. Select Digital Output Only
  • If possible try an external audio source like a Walkman, CD, or MP3 player (connect the speakers to the headphone jack)
  • Check that the volume control in Windows isn't muted or turned too low. See the screen shots below. Go to Start->Control Panel and double click on Sounds and Audio Devices.

I need to hook speakers up to my Dell B110 computer.

2 things are needed to get sound from your speakers:

1-wiring connecting your speakers to a socket to the back of the computer. (The spot they need to plug in to ON YOUR COMPUTER is a small light green circular socket. The other end of the plug you plug in here should run to one of your speakers *usually the right side speaker-the right speaker should then have separate wiring to connect the left speaker.)

2- A source of power.
Some speakers use their own power source and plug in to a power outlet - your wall. Other types have a USB type plug and plug into a USB port in your computer and that is how THOSE get their power.

Those are the basics of sound setup. Some computers are equipped with more complicated setups such as surround sound, subwoofers, digital and more. Reply if you need more help, I will try to assist you further.

Hope this helps.

Same prob. My acer worked y.day and now no sound.

I completely unplugged my speakers. And uninstalled all the hardware for my speakers. Then restarted my computer. Then inserted my format disc for my speakers. Reinstalled it. Using all automatic speaker settings. And they work fine now.

Acer aspire 5520 laptop. Is it dead?

To verify it isn't a battery issue you can try taking the battery out completely and plugging in the A/C adapter and turning it on.

Without more information it's hard it's hard to diagnose your issue more specificially. Do you get any lights on the front?

Dont know how to turn sound on and off

if you are not getting the sound then try checking the sound button on the right bottom side of the screen that has been put on "mute" or not...
check for the speaker power button or the volume button on the speakers itself...
also try uninstalling & reinstalling the sound drivers...

Acer Aspire Computer Does not Turn on

The light you are seeing usually is a sign that the battery is discharged. Although you say the battery shows that it is fully charged, it is possible that the battery is fully discharged or defective. You should disconnect the battery from the pc and try powering on with the ac adapter. Although no way to per say "force reboot," removing all power sources (ac adapter and battery) should in essence reset the motherboard.
