Re: I need another cable connector.
These silver boxes are the tuners for the televsion. at the shop to remove these you have to remove the curcit board these are on. Once you get the board out. the tuner can be removed by unsoldering them. Depenending on the damage to te tuner it may be possible to replace the connector. I like to atleast try. You can also replace the tuner slightly more expensive but essear to do

You need to use audio cables. Connect two red and white audio cables from the output on the HD box to the relative input at the back of TV (nr.4 in picture below). The best way to connect the HD box is by using component cables, that are the red-green and blue trio of cables, plus a white and red audio cables.
Once you have the five cables, connect them to the output at the back of the Direct TV box, and then connect the other end of the cable to either group of connectors 6, or to one of the columns in connector 7. Do connection with box and TV power off. After re-applying power use the source-input selector on remote to select the source from Direct TV box.
It is up to you use the HDMI input so you can select it from your remote, notice one may be an output but the cable box hdmi device will plug into the box and the other end plugs into the hdmi cable connector. then select from your remote or your tv that hdmi connection to recieve signal, and set the remote to work with the TV and the Cable box, if you need more help post here and if this was helpful please rate.
OK IF THE COLOR GREEN HAS "TAKEN OVER YOUR TV" AND YOU USE A CABLE BOX, ITS PROBABLY THE CABLE BOX. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. YOU JUST NEED TO EITHER HIRE SOMEONE TO COME TAKE A LOOK AT THE TV AND/OR CABLE BOX, OR BUY A NEW CABLE BOX AND/OR TV! SIMPLE,HUH?
Unfortunately, that coax connector is almost certainly crimped onto a cable inside.
You might want to pull off the back panel to see if that internal cable is screwed onto another jack on the chassis.
If so, you can disconnect that end and substitute another cable, they come in several different lengths and are not critical.
Any electronics store will have them.
If it isn't equipped with a connector inside, you will need to have someone unsolder the defective cable and install a new one.
Hook the cable up to the VCR or if you don't buy a RF converter from radio shack or electronics store which will have a coax connector on it with component and Svideo to send to the TV. Select the connection (Component or Svideo) in the TV menu. If you only have the coax connector on the back of the TV without any other connection, you will need to get that tuner board replaced.
This is normally replaceable if the PC board was not damaged. The 'RF' connector is a soldered (crimped) on item. But don't despair; most projections that I now of have video inputs of some type. If you have a cable, sat box or VCR you can bypass the connector by using 'RCA' cables. On one of the mentioned above devices hook the cable from box to TV. The 'box' will have a video output connector and the TV will have an input connector. The cables are color coded yellow (video), red and white (audio). Switch TV's input to correct input eg. input one, input 2. Respond back @ firstname.lastname@example.org for more person to person information. Good Luck, Big Irish.
The silver box is called the TUNER. Call an RCA distributor, such as Union Electronics or Herman-Panson and order it by description by asking for the tuner for your model number. Have the location number on the board, just in case.
Take the cable wire that hooks to the IN connector on your cable box and hook it to the IN connector on a 2-way cable splitter.Get 2 more short cable wires and hook one end to the OUT connector on the splitter and the other end to the IN connector on the cable box.Take the other short wire and hook it to the other OUT connector on the splitter then hook the other end of this wire to your tv (you must have two sets of RF connectors on your tv for this to work)Or you can tap the A/V connector off your cable box hooked to a video input on your tv.
