It sounds like you have a virus or some sort in it. If you still have a warranty send it back in and get a new one. It sounds like you have been doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing. The only thing that I could think of is that it is the motherboard. that is going to cost you about $91 Thank you, Connie

White Screen

if you disconnect your mp3 player, does the screen still appear white and can you turn it on or off?
i had the same problem, basically it freezes because it is busy downloading music or placing music where it is suppost to be. but if you cannot turn it off after you have unplugged it, you should take off the back cover and take out the battery. place the battery back in, and replace the cover and it should be able to turn back on without a white screen.

try doing this and let me know if it goes into recovery mode
1. with mp3 off slide the hold button to on so it locks
2.hold down record button on left hand side and keep held down
3. whilst holding record turn mp3 on still hold down record it should now be in recovery mode if your mp3 player gets this far then it can be fixed.
Once in recovery mode goto sandisk site and you need to goto downloads and download latest firmware for your make and model once downloaded it will talk you through how to istall this onto your mp3 player if you have any problems let me know ok

Repeating Screen HELP

I got mine to work.  This may only be applicable to the e200R (RHAPSODY) version of the Sansa.

Step 1:  Follow this link first and follow the directions:

I didn't know where to get the ROM file so I left it out (I only created the sansa.fmt file got the MI4 file).  That brings me to...

Step 2:  Follow this link if you get a "Load main image failed Switch to recovery mode" error message:

It's very important that on step 8, after you turn it off and it is beginning to reboot, that you reset the Hold button so that it isn't showing orange anymore.

Not as hard as it seems!

My sansa wont boot up

The best results that I have had were to hold the power button for about 15 seconds. ( if you only hold it for 3 seconds it goes into sleep mode). This shuts the device off. Then restart it.

Sansa e280 8gb white screen with black spot

It sounds like some data corruption.

Try this;

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.

You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.

- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds)
- Slide the hold switch into "hold" position.
- Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.

Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.

Best of Luck.

Maybe cause by a corrupt boot loader in the device, upgrading the firmware will help resolve this issue. Perform Recovery mode on the player. Enable Hold Switch + Press and hold record button + Press And hold menu or power button until it says on the screen welcome to recovery mode. Then download the sansa firmware updater on your computer and perform the update.
