Question about HP Pavilion Computers & Internet
I need to replace the failing hard disk on a HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook PC. When I bought it, Windows 7 (update) was installed. I have the Product Key and DVD for w7 update, and product key for Windows XP, but no XP CD/DVD. Is it possible to install Win7 update on the new HD?
It should be possible. You should search a free toll number for your country to ask Microsoft about this situation. Also you can take out your old hdd and use Ghost to mirror it on the new hdd :) - you just clone the old hdd

The problem most likely - the laptop is old and the BIOS most likely cannot support a hard disk with a capacity of 120Gb.
Check the capacity of the old hard disk, most likely it is about 10 to 20Gb in size and you cannot buy one these days with these capacity.
