How to open .zip file downloaded to usb flash drive

Very easy. Create a folder on the device you want to download to. If its a computer, create one on your screen, (desktop)if not great it where you want to.If its not a self unzipping file you will need to use an app that comes with your PC or APPLE plug in the USB, make sure windows recognizes it. Then go to "my computer", left click on the USB holding it down constantly. Drag it over to the folder you created on your desktop and release it. Next double click the folder to open it up. Click on the USB file to unzip. If it asks you were, use current folder. It will unzip as of it to that folder.

My macbook has a white screen with blinking folder inside what can i do

The issue is that the laptop cannot find a disk to boot from. This could be due to a number of things. Failed disk, corrupt disk, corrupt system files on the disk. If you have a system disk and an internal or external dvd reader, you may be able to boot from that. If not, then you will probably be visiting an Apple store, or at least a computer repair shop that repairs apple computers. If you have no backup, you risk losing your files.

I need to transfer all the data from my Dell 370 to the WD so that I can then transfer the information to my new computer, an Apple. Please advise how I can do this? Thank you, Lillian Baley

I hope by WD you mean Western Digital, an HDD. And I hope you know where-alI all the data lies. If yes, its easy. Attach the WD to the Dell. From My Computer Select all the folders that you want on your new Apple. You can select multiple folders/files by keeping the CTRL key pressed while you go on selecting files and folders. Once that is done right click on any one of the selected files or folders. Select copy. All the files and folders will be copied to the memory of the Dell. Then from My computers select open the WD and right click on it. Select Paste. and all the files/folders will be copied to the WD. Once finished with Dell, log off and power off the Dell. Disconnect the WD from the Dell and connect to the Apple and power it on. Once the Apple boots up your WD will be seen as an additional drive on the Apple. Now copy all the files and folders to the Apple as you did from the Dell.

Need to unlock volume control Nano ipod Apple

Please follow these steps for unlocking your iPod;
Please plug in the I POD to the compuer using the USB cable as first, you have to enable showing hidden files and folders to do it;
Click start-> MY COMPUTER(On the compuer screen)

Go to "Tools", "Folder Options". Then click on the tab called "View", and under "Hidden Files and Folders", click "Show Hidden Files and Folders", click OK.

Now, plug your iPod to your computer. You will see your iPod in "My computer" as a removable drive. Open it by double clicking, go to "iPod_Control" folder ,then "Device" folder. You will see file named "_volumelocked", please delete it.

Eject your iPod. Then, restart your iPod, You can do this by holding down the center and menu button for at least 5-6 seconds. Your iPod screen will go black and then you will see a Apple logo.
After reboot, you will have no limitations about sound.

Once your iPod has rebooted, check and make sure that it worked. Simply go into "Settings", "Volume Limit". If it asks for a PIN, you did it WRONG. Retry the above procedure.

Powerbook G4 wont start up, shows a file folder with a ? mark....

The hard drive is probably on it's way out. You can get and run Disk Warrior and you could repair permissions and such but the hard drive is probably on it's way to the grave.

A couple things though. It isn't enough to just put the disk in, you need to hold down "c" while the computer starts for it to try to run off your disk. You can then try to repair permissions and fix the disk from the installation program that starts. When the Install OS X screen comes up (looks like a desktop but with the big dialog box in the middle) click on Utilities at the top and then on Disk Utility. HERE IS APPLE'S SITE for you to read about how to try to repair your disk. I've found that this sometimes works and may help it work enough for you to get your files off, but may not.

Another method would be to get another Mac, and hook the two together with a firewire to transfer your files, then reinstall OS X in your ailing computer. Go HERE to read about this technique.

Computer won't work & shows a file icon w/a"? and a smiley face"

the "?" and the "smiley apple face means it couldnt find the osx to boot from. this can be cause by a bad or deleted file or a failing / bad harddrive. it sounds like a bad harddrive since it doesnt find the destination.
