SOURCE: I am unable to login our domain user account.

Hello,

This is usually a computer trust issue, if the computer was previously used to logon to the network and has been rebuilt or had in problems it can have trust issues. First way would be to change the computer name and add the DNS Prefix for your domain. ex desktop.abc.com to desktop1.abc.com. when prompted it is best to use the domain admin or equivalent to make the change and then reboot.

Hello Mr. Ali. I've been recently admitted to this Win Server 2008 R2 course. I had a class related to your problem, so I believe that I may help you solve this problem.

Click Start, point to Administrative Tools and then click Active Directory Users and Computers. Goto the properties of your created Domain Controller and scroll down to find this function "DSMmachineAccount", click to to change the value to Zero.

Hope this will work.
Sincerely Khurram Karim.

Windows Server 2008 is one of Microsoft Windows' server line of operating systems. Besides Windows 7.Windows Server 2008 are the latest and more secured versions from Microsoft. Windows Server 2008 has many new features included that system administrators of small and large companies will enjoy. <br /> <br /> Many use Windows 2008 server as a workstation. That means A group of computers and devices on a network that are administered as a unit with common rules and procedures. And the host computer manage these computers through its admin account and password.<br /> <br /> If you have lost windows 2008 server local admin password, I think it is easy for you to recover the password. But what if you have lost windows domain password? Things will get more tricky and all of the computers in the domain paralyze. These passwords also called AD password. Before solving your password problem, you need to know what is Active Directory Domain Controller.<br /> <br /> <b>What is Active Directory Domain Controller?</b><br /> <br />A domain controller is a server that is running a version of the Windows Server operating system and has Active Directory Domain Services installed.<br /> <br /> When you install Windows Server on a computer, you can choose to configure a specific server role for that computer. A Domain Controller can also control access to files and directories which can be setup so users have access to all their files no matter which machine they log in from. This also makes adding and removing users among other things much easier as all that is required is a change on the Domain Controller itself rather than every machine on a network.<br /> <br />If you have lost this domain administrator password (also called AD password), it will be a tricky thing. However, Windows Password Key Enterprise can allow you to reset domain administrator password.<br /> Here is the steps to reset Windows server domain password<br /> <br /> Step 1: Download and install Windows Password Key Enterprise in any available computer.<br /> <img src="shalakate.jpg" /> Step 2: Run the software and insert a blank CD or USB Flash Drive to computer.<br /> Step 3: Select Domain Administrator and choose CD/DVD or USB Flash Drive<br /> Step 4: Click Burn to begin bootable disk creation.<br /> Step 5: Insert the newly created CD/USB Flash Drive to your locked computer , but remember you need to set the bios setup , make sure the computer to boot from CD or USB.<br />If you don't know how to set BIOS, take a look this tutorial.<br /> <a href="http://www.lostwindowspassword.com/how_it_works/bios_setting_for_cd.htm">http://www.lostwindowspassword.com/how_it_works/bios_setting_for_cd.htm</a><br /> <br />Step 6: And then you can recover your Domain admin password<br /> <br />Now you can log on your domain admin account and reset a new password.<br />Note: This can also work in Windows Server 2000,2003 <br /> cc

How to Reset AD Password for Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008?

Have you ever forgotten Active Directory (AD) password? Do you know how to reset AD password? Is there any Windows password reset software to do AD password reset? If not, what to do to reset AD password? Before answering these questions and do AD password reset, you need to what is active directory, Windows domain and domain controller.
What is Active Directory?Active Directory is used by system administrators to store information about users, assign security policies, and deploy software. It was released first with Windows 2000 Server edition and refined further in Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 and was renamed Active Directory Domain Services. AD components include such domains, domain controllers, trust relationships, forests, organizational units, etc. What is a domain controller?
According to Wiki, a domain controller is a server that responds to security authentication requests (logging in, checking permissions, etc.) within the Windows Server domain. The domain controllers in your network are the centerpiece of your Active Directory service. It stores user account information, authenticates users and enforces security policy for a Windows domain. When you install Windows Server on a computer, you can choose to configure a specific server role for that computer. When you want to create a new domain, or an additional domain controller in an existing domain, you configure the server with the role of domain controller by installing AD DS.
What is a Domain?A domain is a concept introduced in Windows NT whereby a user may be granted access to a number of computer resources with the use of a single username and password combination.
The domain concept not only allows a user to have access to resources that may be on different servers, but it also allows one domain to be given access to another domain in a trust relationship. In this arrangement, the user need only log in to the first domain to also have access to the second domain's resources as well.
So it is hard to say if there any windows password recovery software can reset AD password. Windows password recovery software like Windows Password Unlocker Enterprise can allow you to reset domain administrator password on Active directory for Windows server 2000/2003/2008.
Steps to reset domain administrator password
  • Step 1: Download and install Windows Password Unlocker Enterprise in any available computer.
  • Step 2: Run the software and insert a USB flash drive to computer.
  • Step 3: Select Domain Administrator and target USB drive, and then click the Burn button to start burning an ISO image file to the USB flash drive.
  • Step 4: Click ok when burning process is completed.
  • Step 5: Insert the burned USB flash drive to your locked computer and set the computer to boot from USB.
  • Step 6: Choose the way to reset AD password.
  • 2 options for you to reset domain password
  • 0b60bd0.jpg
  • Option 1: Reset the default domain administrator password to Pa123456
  • Option 2: Reset AD password by creating a specified domain administrator account.
  • Step 7: Click YES to continue and click Ok when the domain password has been successfully reset.
Now you can log on your domain with the user name of administrator and password of 'Pa123456' if you select option 1. If you select option 2, you can log on domain with the username of 'passkiller' and password of 'Pa123456'.

User creating in domain

In active directory on the server you need to create a network admin user and any other normal users u want to have access to the domain.
Then you have to add the pc to the domain using the network admin user.
After this u can log on to the pc with the network admin or the other created user names.

I dont know what is domain

A Microsoft Windows Active Directory Domain is a directory service for a computer network. Think of it like a phonebook for all your companies computers, users, and printers to name a few. Active Directory provides a central authentication point for all users/computers in the building and controls network policies. This makes network management for multiple computers and users MUCH easier.

For more information, see Microsoft's Official Active Directory site.

Domain controller error

First reboot once your PC and if that does not work then:
when you login with your local admin account are you able to ping the DC? Also, check the IP settings to make sure they are correct. Are you using DHCP or are you static? If you are able to ping the DC adn IP settings are correct, is the computer name in Active directory? Also if the computer name is in active directory, is it disabled? If you check all these things and you are still having issues, drop the computer from the domain, rename it and create the new name in Active Directory and then add the computer back to the Domain. Somewhere along the line of following these steps, you should get the computer back inline. If other computers are able to connect to the domain then it is definitly an issue with this computer name or a setting on this computer.

Thanks

Windows cannot connect domain either domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable or because your computer was not found

The resolution and workaround to solve the error is as below.
  1. Login to the Windows 2003 domain controller, and delete the computer account object from the Active Directory by using Microsoft Management Console (MMC) which you can always access from “Manage Your Server”.
  2. Log-in to the PC workstation as local administrator. If you cannot logon as local administrator, try to unplug the network cable and logon to the computer by using a domain administrator user that used to logon on the PC before, by using cached logon credentials feature.
  3. Go to Control Panel, then click on System icon, then go to Computer Name tab.
  4. Unjoin the computer from the domain by clicking on “Change”. You should see that Domain button is now selected. Remember your domain name in the text box. Select (Click) on “Workgroup” to remove the computer from the domain, and put any workgroup name in the text box (e.g. workgroup).
  5. Click OK to exit.
  6. Restart the computer (optional)
  7. Go back to the Control Panel, launch System properties and then go to Computer Name tab, and click on “Change”.
  8. Rejoin the domain by uncheck the Workgroup button and select (check) Domain button, and put in the domain name noted above into the text box.
  9. Click OK to exit.
  10. Reboot the PC.
This should solve the unable to logon to domain error, without changing or losing the user profiles on AD.

Features of active directory

Active Directory think of it has management system for all network LAN PCs in your domain. You can add users to certain enterprise groups, you can disable accounts, push and pull software application better then you can in SMS domain. I use to to clone user accounts or create new user groups. Very easy to learn. To install on Server requires a domain, DNS. If you're using Windows Server 2003 and setup the server to manage active directory all the options for the installation process will appear for installation. There are a lot of info online and in books if you need more info. There are training classing offer at MS Solutions Centers.

Problem

When you install a server operating system at that time it will ask you that how many maximum clients you want to attach this server so by default its 10 ,that means you can attach maximum of 10 clients , you can increase or decrease the no of computer you want.

Firstly you have to decide whether to add clients in workgroup mode or Domin mode..in domain mode you have the centralised management on the computer .so select domain level mode .
now to make clients either you can make 5 user in active directory user and computer.
1:Go to Administrative tools > Select Active Directory Users and computers > Select user on the left side > right click on that and select new user > now follow on screen instruction to make a user > now make other 4 user also in the same mannner. Now when you are logged on with local user on the clients select my computer > right click and Select properties > select my computer tab >now click change button to make client work with domain type only domain name for eg if your domain is contoso.com ,> type their only contoso > now a box will appear asking you for administrator and password enter domain controller pc password ,it will ask you to restart > after restart user can login at the client computer...
Or:

just login with local user at client computer Right click my computer > and do the same procedure ,after restarting you can login with your server name administrator and password .
