Question about Mitsubishi WT-46809 46" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

My TV turned itself off and it keeps doing so everytime I turn it on

My Mitsubishi wt46809 suddenly turned itself off and everytime I turn it on it almost immediately turns itself off. I unplugged it and waited a while then plugged it back in and the green timer light flashed 3 times. That means something I believe. It's somekind of a code as to what the problem is, but I don't know what that is. Please help.

I am having the same problem with the tv turning off within 3 seconds of it being turned on. There is no keyboard connected to the unit. Anyone been successful in resolving this issue?

I have the same problem too. I downloaded the service manual hoping to find the solution. I you press the MENU & IMPUT buttons at the same time for 5 seconds it will indicate CODE for error. The LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash four
times in my case which according to the manual means

“22” ... Short Protect circuit., Can somebody tell me what this means and how to repair it.

P.D. These are the other CODES:

“12” ... indicates no error has occurred.

    “21” ... X-Ray Protect circuit.

    “22” ... Short Protect circuit.

    “23” ... Horizontal Deflection failure.

    “24” ... Vertical Deflection failure.

Model wt46809 won't turn on

If the green light which is power comes on and does not go off you do not have shutdown---what happens via menu? (see on screen display?) there are possible reasons but if possible try the self check this set has--and do a visual look inside for any signs of Glycol.

Will bad convergance ic's keep my Mitsubishi

If one of the two stk-392-570 chips has shorted it will blow a pico fuse on middle board and set will not come on.

Plug set in, turn on, when green power light goes out on the front of the set press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons for at least five seconds and release both.

Power light will blink a two digit error code: if 2,2 it is a blown pico fuse and the chips also must be replaced. I have start to finish step by step instructions that are available if the customer selects me to answer in the new Marketplace here on Fixya.

see attached photo of chip and also part of middle board with the green pico fuses.

10_4_2011_6_10_21_pm.jpgchips look like this but will have 570 number on them.

Repair mitsubishi WT46809

This can be caused by blown fuse(s) on the middle PC board. The fuses are not the kind that fit in a fuseholder. They are soldered on the PC board toward the front. I would guess the repair would be a few hundred bucks, but changing fuses is normally the effect of another problem, NOT the cause of the problem, so there may be other problem to fix and add to your bill.

My TV turned itself off and it keeps doing so everytime I turn it on

You have the VS 18 chassis mitsubishi That set will flash a 2 digit code. This could be 12 meaning no faults detected or a 21 which means Xray protection . However i feel it is putting out a 12 no fault recognized cause your set is jumping. that is a vertical sync problem. Do you have the service manual for your set? With the service manual I could probably help you diagnose your set.. You can get a manual for 10 or 12 dollars at the following link if you'd like one to try to diagnose your set. They will email the manual to you also if you would like.
