If you go to start in the bottom right corner of your screen click on it then go to control panel open control panel windows defender will be in there you can turn it on there but if you have other anti virus software running they will manage your anvirus and internet security over windows defender.

SOURCE: Dell inspiron 1300 Video card upgrade

Sorry you cannot upgrade the graphics on your laptop according to the articles i looked up.
You should call DELL. I think the display card is part of the mother board on your computer. In this case, you cannot change it. In some models you can add some memory to the display card, but this may not make the card faster. Higher amounts of memory allows for more resolution and colours.

SOURCE: Dell inspiron 1300 back light problem

All laptops have a backlight and an inverter to power it, and the problem you have is very common. Usually replacing the inverter board in the display fixes the trouble. There are a number of vendors online offering replacement parts. Here is one that just popped up after a Google search. You can also find videos on youtube showing the procedure for opening up the display to install the new part. It's a simple process that most people can handle with a little patience and some small tools.

It's also possible the light itself has gone bad, but the inverter failure is more common. The backlight on some displays is not replaceable separately. So try the less expensive inverter replacement first.

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 1525 #keys

Its a keypad problem. For solving this problem, simply take out these keys out by pulling them outward and then clean the socket-type granule below it. And then again replace the keys to their location. Surely these keys will start working.

I am having problems with mouse and space bar when

You don't say what program you are using, that doesn't respond, but clicking the left hand mouse key is normal to go to the next page (sideways). The space bar is not normally used for this function.

Touchpad

Just look out for a mouse-pad symbol on any of the function key of your keyboard.
And then press the 'fn' key on your keyboard with that key which has symbol of mouse-pad on it. I guess you will be able to access your mouse pad.

I have a Dell Inspiron 8200. The mouse does not respond. It slides down and to the left and then becomes inoperable. Is there any way to fix the problem? Could I use an external mouse?

you can get some really cool tiny little mouse these days or even one with a ball on top that you rotate, ive got an optical one on my standalone, its got a cable but its pretty smooth.
But first try to configure the touchpad in your settings, thaths the most likely problem that you can most probably fix yourself

There are some circuits malfunktion in your keyboard.
Try to connect and external keyboard and you will see that the external keyboard works fine.
This way you can continue using your computer,
and continue writing, untill you get a replacement keyboard.
You need to replace the keyboard.
Hope this helped you to continue using your computer.

If an external keyboard functions normally, then replace the keyboard. If the external keyboard has the same issue, then most likely a setting in the regional and language settings

Left mouse pad doesn't respond, or sticking

It's probably a hardware defect ,you can take it to an authorised Dell service center and they can make you a quote ,in the meantime you can use a USB mouse.
