My Samsung DLP hlp4663wx/xaa TV has scrambled picture
The picture on my Samsung hlp4663wx/xaa DLP TV just went scrambled while we were watching it. It has moments of close-to-clarity, but normally is now just completely scrambled. The sound works. I have unplugged it for 30 minutes to no avail. I removed the cover to the lamp area, just to look. When I put the cover back and turned it on, the picture was normal for about 15 seconds, then went back to scrambled. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had a problem with a flashing problem. A
technician came to our home and started off by replacing the DMD board.
That didn't help. He took it back to the shop and they ended up putting
in a new Color Wheel and a new LDVS cable. It was then adjusted,
cleaned, and tested. All is well now.

You may have to blow out the dust (if any) inside the set (a common reason). Or if the picture scrambles up any before going out you may need to replace the color wheel. And it is possible the fan could be breaking down or slowing down and causing overheating which will make the thermal switch to cut the set off.

Sounds likea bad color wheel to me, or possibly a lamp has blown. If the noise is a humming sound--it is the CW--if you hear a "sound like a sizzle, for a few seconds and then normal, and this repeats a few times--the lamp has blown.
I don't have the manual handy at the moment. but if you look in the owner's manual you should see that this is the code for either a lamp or fan problem. I will look it up myself later, but check the manual. This could be as simple as replacing the lamp.
Sounds like the color wheel. Check samsungparts.com for a replacement. Check the video on youtube of a guy fixing his color wheel to see if its something you want to tackle. I changed mine... a drag, but not too awful. Ran about $100.
