SOURCE: my homelite f3040 starts but wont run / when i

Check your fuel filter in the fuel tank,if you have one.
If the mower/weedeater is over a year old, then I recommend that you buy
and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard
and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
Sounds like you will need to clean the carburetor or replace your carburetor
internal rubber parts like the diaphgram and O rings.
Be sure to use compressed air to blow out all the fuel and air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small
rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or using starting fluid
and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of
the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Keep in mind that the float for the carburetor must be level when you go to
reassemble the carburetor or follow the instructions you get with the
carburetor kit.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need
to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes
to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first
and then turn them back out to their orginal position before you started.

Pull starter cord wont return, so cannot pull start

you need to order the replacement coil spring, this is a tricky job to replace and if you are not handy, your best bet is to take it to a small engine repair depot.

My Homelite chainsaw 33cc zr10926 won't engage when the cord is pulled.

Remove the starter mechanism from the engine and examine the 'dogs' which engage the flywheel. They either damaged or their pivots are frozen with dirt and other debris. Hope this helps!

Homelite weedeater pull cord wont retract once ive pulled on it to start

you will need to remove starter cover & boom assy ,
sounds like either the rewind spring is broken or the pulley has split at the base of pulley or the starter pawls are bent / jamming , check that the centre pivot if this unit uses this type is not binding , pulley should be free , check the pulley is not damaged ?
either way once cover is off you should be able to see the problem
check the lugs that secure the pulley to the cover if unit has 3 lugs that secure to the cover ?

replacement parts should be available reassemble and test

cheers hope it helps paul

Pull cord wont engage on weed eater

remove the cover and check to see if any of the plastic or nylon parts in the rewind mechanism are cracked or broken or if there is dirt in the re-wind pawls...clean and lightly oil, should work if not broken.
