Hi,
theres obviously some form of electrical fault.
check that the wires inside the plug are tightened correctly.
Also check that the Cord-Grip ( plastic piece in the plug That holds the cable ) has,nt been overtightened and crushed the cable.
If none of this solves your problem, return if under warranty, if Not.
Throw it Away, and replace with a new Unit.

SOURCE: The coating on my George

Hi Lady 9,

Without getting into the availability and safety issues involving recoating with teflon, I'd recommend either replacing the grill plates, or just using a cooking spray. Not as convenient, you'd have to re-apply every couple of servings, but comparatively easier to implement on the short-term (and perhaps longer, depending on whether or not you choose to either re-coat or replace the grill plates. Note: You want to be sure there are no exposed heating elements when you spray on the coating, or you will likely have a flash-fire - - NOT a good thing.

I've heard that there's a Teflon (tm) coating available, but never found out where, and while not a chemist, I do have some college training in chemistry, and am wary of fluorine-based chemicals getting in my food because of what I've read about it.

I'd contact the manufacturer (Salton, Inc.) customer service site for parts or manual. If they don't have them, they should know where to send you (though if they don't, I'd seriously wonder about the company).

SOURCE: Teflon coating comming off!!!!!

Hi,

Without getting into the availability and safety issues involving(re)coating with teflon, and without getting on my soapbox about price vs. quality, I'll simply recommend either replacing the grill plates,or just using a cooking spray. Note: You want to be sure there are noexposed heating elements when you spray on the coating, or you willlikely have a flash-fire - - NOT a good thing.

I've heard that there's a Teflon(tm) re-coating product available, but never found out where, and while not achemist, I do have some college training in chemistry, and am wary offluorine-based chemicals getting in my food because of what I've readabout it.

I'd contact the manufacturer (Salton, Inc.) customer servicesite for replacement parts or manuals. If they don't have them, they should knowwhere to send you (though if they don't, I'd seriously wonder about thecompany). You might also register your opinion of the product's durability and other characteristics........(;^])

Can I use the george foreman grill if scratched?

There is no reason why you cannot use your grill if scratched. If the scratch is on the cooking surface and some of the no-stick coating has been removed then this may cause your meat to stick to that particular area. This problem should not be of any concern regarding the use though.

I have the george foreman with the pedestal, and I love it. Can I use BBQ sauce on meats, and can I use Aluminum foil on the grill?

aluminum foil may take the teflon coating off if it scratches it. I wouldn't use aluminum foil, parchment paper would work

My George Foreman Grill has been scraped down to the bare metal along the 'ribs'. Is it still ok to cook on?

well, yeah, itll cook the food, but itll stick, and youll likely get bits of teflon in your food. and you really dont want that, as it causes cancer. best bet is to toss it and buy a new one, and dont use metal utensiles on it. ever.
