Once your computer has been powered up, you can push firmly on the button on the CD/DVD drive faceplate to get it to open. Lay your disk on the face of the drive making sure it is seated fully in the circle provided. Shut the drive door without pushing on the button.

If your drive does not have a door but instead is just a slot, you can push the disk into the drive firmly about half way. It will then be caught up by the computer and be pulled in the rest of the way automatically.

SOURCE: laptop hp dv6000 will not recognize cd burner/dvd player

HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop PC
Did you 'turn off' the AUTOPLAY feature of the CD\DVD ? When the player "runs two times at startup", it is trying to find the program on the disc.2nd- Look in internet for HP dv6000 cd\dvd drive replacement.(If that is the ""exact match for the product"" you wrote about)
3rd.goto CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER and look up cd\dvd and uninstall it. REBOOT, when your system comes back it will try to find the cd\dvd. If it does not, it is damaged (kaput!), must be replaced. If Windows finds the cd\dvd drive and reinstalls the drivers, but it does not work, then the heads are dirty or damaged. That Windows found the dvd\cd means that the circuit on the device works.

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ http://67.20.82.163/

XP on HP Pavilion dv2000

yes

because it's using an AHCI  SATA driver

there 2 ways to install XP on your laptop

  1. If you own an external floppy disk. You can insert the driver before the installation begin. the setup will ask you to insert third party driver by pressing F6 at the first of installation. Press F6 then insert your SATA driver. choose it. then setup will detect your hdd. you can download the SATA driver form here:http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-DRIVERS-TOOLS/Others/HP-Pavilion-dv2054ea-SATA-Driver-550.shtml
  2. It's very hard to find an external floppy drive today, unless if you are an OEM or retailler. second way is you can insert the driver to XP installation CD, but it's very complicated. Or you can download a XP installation CD with sata driver here:http://fenopy.com/torrent/Windows_xp_sp3_5512_cdr_october_2008_with__sata_raid_/MTU2MTEzMA==/index.html
