A 3 year-old cooktop JEC9530ADB dual control element all of the sudden stopped working. Is it the element or something else? All the other elements work properly. The outside of the dual burner doesn't work, but the inside does.

its been my experience that the dual burner switch is far more likely the culprit, unless you can physiclaly see the outer ring is broken( visual inspection works wonders. as far as trying to ohm out i generally look at theelemnet itself (4 wires lead to the elemnt you can trace 1 to the outer portion of element, and 1 to the inner portion.WITH POWER OFF Iswithc those 2 wires and the restore power try element ad watch for outer ring to work inner ring no good. now i know its the switch not sending power. reset wires and order new switch
SOURCE: Jenn-Air element won't shut off
most likely its a faulty switch, not completly shutting down trickling power out.

Hi,
They are not that hard to replace and you can easily buy the part online...

I have had the identical model for about 2-3 years and have the same issue for the second time now. The first time around the switch was replaced under warranty ($160 for the part per the installer), now it is going to be on my dime... My outside burner will work at times, but only after extensive on/off turning. Once I move the switch past (a) certain position(s), the outer burner will turn off again. I assume that this is a simple switch issue (again), but I am not sure which part to replace: a) the custom burner control switch or b) the dual infinite switch. this is the $100 difference question. Any advice?
