Problem with my webcamera

My laptop sony VGN-FE41E has the sony visual communication camera VGP-VCC4. It doesn t work in MSN and it doesn t exist in the control panel. I tried to intall it again but it didn t work. It seems as it is being occupied by another software. Maybe it is the VISTAS problem? I don t know what else to do. Please help...

    I am on a AR320E laptop that has a build in camera and microphone. The OS is vista home.

    II want to attach version 1.1 PCGA-UVC10. I have the device driver, but I nave a blue screen and cannot take capture pictures or video.

    I have tried everything including having zip files sent to me which did not work.

    It appears that the motion eye in my AR ... is interfering with the PCGA.

    In the device list, it shows warning signs on the driver. Since both are sharing the device driver, I disabled the motion eye and that did not work.

    Any thoughts, and thanks.

    My webcam does not work neither with Skype not Messenger... Who do we contact for a solution?

  • Jules_2370 Sep 03, 2008

    I have a Sony VAIO laptop with a built-in webcam (Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC4). For quite some time I had to reboot every single time I wanted to use it in MSN. Now it isn't working at all. It says that I either don't have one plugged in or it's being used in a video call by another programme! I presume it's the dreaded Vista again. Can anybody offer a solution? It's very frustrating. I have looked for updates and can only find things that I dare not install without knowing what I'm doing. Help! Thank you!

  • Anonymous Apr 12, 2009

    Built in Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC4, and even when I get green light to come on, the video does not work in AOL Video Chat, Skype, or other products. I've installed the latest version from their site, but again... nothing. People keep suggesting I "unplug" the camera... missing that the camera is built into the vaio laptop and cannot be unplugged.

Hey, I've the same problem, so i called Sony. The guy how i spoke with, told me that they company is working on this deffect. In a view day's they will place a driver on their website to solve this problem. I think it's very strange that they launch this notebook by knowing about this defect, so i hope they solve it soon!

Dear problem solvers,

Thank you for your past advice.

I restored my computer to an earlier time since everything was a mess.

1) Attached camera;

2) Open sony camera utility program;

3) While the features, such as clicking to take pictures, etc.
works, the software, the camera can not see, therefore it is a
blank screen.

4) I can take pictures, but the screen is white and does not see
me.

5) It appears the camera itself is not recognized.

6) Please note that this camera was for XP, etc.; Vista was
not on the market yet. Thus, while the software has been
updated from the 1.1 version to the 2.1 verson, and the
features of the camera work, it cannot see me.

Any thoughts. Thanks

Remove the camera from the usb port, restart the pc and reconnect the cam to see if found new hardware pop up shows and installs using the driver you have previously installed. Check that the cam works with it's own software and then update rom MSN to windows live if taht is what you are still using, then go into preferences and settings and make sure others can see you have a web cam and ensure that the cam is found by Windows live and uses it as default. The problem you may be having when you say it is being used by other software may be that you have the cam software running at the same time and checking online at Sony for updates at the same time as MSN is going online, there is no need to run the cam software as MSN will automatically look for an installed camera
