Can not grab and scroll with my vertical and horizontal touch pad

Recentlly did a complete system restore and now can not find "touch pad" info anywhere. I used to be able to scroll L & R, & up & down with my horizontal and vertical on the touch pad, now these 2 features only move the cursor L & R, & up & down.

How to enable the 4-way scroll button on Acer Aspire 5610 Series?

Synaptics touchpad. This is generally down by the clock (TSR program) or within All Programs. In there you can Enable side (horizontal) scroll on the touch pad as well as vertical scroll and scrolling speed.

I don't know how to use the scroll areas to the Right and Bottom of the Touchpad on my Dell XPS M1730

There is a software that comes preloaded with dell called Synaptics Pointing Software .See to that it is installed. From the software enable the required scrolling mode.by moving your finger up and down slightly pressed along the right most areas of the touch pad allows vertical scrolling while moving the finger horizontally at the bottom side of the touch pad allows horizontal scrolling. Also see to that the synaptics software is enabled at startup

Not working for my vertical scroll zone howcan activate this problem

Hi,

Assuming you're talking about the touchpad, this can be enabled and disabled in your control panel.

Open your start menu, then Control panel, if it's not in classic mode click the Classic View link in the top-left corner. Now open the mouse icon and select the Device settings tab(red logo), now click the settings select by single clicking the synaptics touch pad from the list. click the settings button below the list and select the "Virtual Scrolling" section.

You will see two check boxes, the First enables the marked off vertical scrolling feature, the second enables a horizontal scrolling feature that may not be marked on the mousepad but runs along the bottom of the pad and works the same way.

Click OK, on both windows and close the comtrol panel.

Hope this helps FixYa, if not reply back with any additional info you can,

Chris

Touch pad's function of scrolling vertically and horizontally is not working. All the other functions are fine.

The touch pad drive needs to be installed. XP will provide basic function support for a touchpad,. Advanced features require the specific discrete driver from the manufacturer

I have lost the ability to scroll using the right vertical edge of the touch pad. Otherwise the pad works fine but it is annoying not being able to scroll any more without moving the cursor to the 'scroll...

The option to enable or disable the scrolling option for the notebook touchpad is generally available by going to the Control Panel, then selecting Mouse. Within that area, go to Device Settings, select the touchpad from the list of available devices, then click Settings. There should be an option for "virtual scrolling" - click on it, and you should be given the options to turn on or off both horizontal and vertical scrolling for the touchpad control.
