Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: i formatted my hard drive now my media center doesent work

Your disks may have the OLD version of your video driver, seeing as XP has probably updated itself SEVERAL times, before you formatted the drive. I suggest Doing ALL Windows Updates for your OS. This will probably cure your issue, if not go to the Video card manufacturers web site and get the latest driver for your OS. I would NOT just skip the XP updates and go get the driver first that MAY NOT cure your problem as the NEW driver may depend on the LASTEST updates for your OS to be installed.

SOURCE: I am running Microsoft Works

You are correct that reducing the number of fonts on your computer to a number less than 300 may fix the issue. The easiest way to do this is to open your fonts folder and delete some. You fonts folder can be found here:

{WindowsDrive}\{WindowsDir}\Fonts.

If your Windows Drive is c: and your Windows Directory is WINNT, then you will find your fonts here:

c:\WINNT\Fonts

Move (not delete) a bunch of your fonts to another folder, especially if you notice that there are indeed more than 300 installed.

Then try again. Even after moving the fonts, you may still have to uninstall and re-install Works.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: My windows media center 2005, can't install media?

if you have the OS installed then that tells me you need the sound card drivers. Go to this page:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=2684&l=en&s=pub&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8400&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Choose your operating system, then go underneath where it says audio and choose the one that says driver.

Download it and then install it and you should have sound then.

Windows xp media center error occurs when trying to record programs

When that happens you usually need to backup your data, and reinstall the system to fix Windows corrupted files.

Try first doing a system restore to the most recent date before you started having the problem. If system files are damaged this will not help.

The media center is part of the WMC operative system. You can also reinstall media center alone using add remove programs, then Add remove windows components. Often that does not work, and you need to use a Windows MCE setup disk to fix the problem.
