broken switch also. Switch pull cord did not retract. Plastic housing holding the switch broke. Perhaps other problems.. like a return spring problem....

NOT ALL SWITCHES ARE THE SAME!!!! Some are single layer and some are not!!. I think you can tell by the body color of the switch. Red and Black, Grey and Black, ETC. I figured this out after buying 3 of the wrong switches. Each one hooks up a little different. If it is an aloha brand fan like sold at WalMart it is a common issue. Just call there 800 number and they will send you a new one. You have to know the exact model number of have the bar code. Usually there is a bar code on top of the motor. Just take it down from the ceiling and look. I called them on Thursday and got a free switch and capacitor on Monday!! My fan is going great again. If you have the old switch check it or just call the fan's customer service!!
Just call 1-800-295-4448. Even the call is free.

Nascarnbronc is exactly right. All credit to him for finding this replacement switch. Saved my fan and me from buying a new one as 4 other switches I had already tried were incompatible.

If you need the shine top ls-102 ceiling fan switch, he has the ticket to get the replacement. I got one myself, came in today and I installed. It works perfectly when 4 other switches all were incompatible.

EDIT: Also, the phone number up top for aloha breeze is not in service anymore, they went bankrupt I heard.

ANy electric store will have different switches (lowes and home depot do too) just make sure you bring the old one with you. The colors of the wires shouldn't make too much of a difference just the amount
