Mitsubshi WD-73881 Color problems

Hey guys. My tv is starting to act wierd. It's starting to show some wierd shadows, It seems like all the white colors have a blue cloud over them. Anything black has like a rainbow of purple and green in them. This is really hard to explain whats going on with it. I notice it twice as much when the scene is dark on the tv.

It sounds like what your describing is what is called solorization.. whith this model mitsubishi recomends technicians reseat what is called the dvi cable and if that doent work they next recomend replacment of the optical engine. the dvi cable is inside the chais and is what feeds the signal from the main board to optical engine. a large computer type cable like a monitor cable ussally with two tighting thumb screws.

same problem everyone has with mitsubishi dlp sets I found this is not always a light engine or color wheel problem but rather an airflow problem that comes about due to lack of air movement inside the chassis. to find out if that's the problem simply remove the lower back cover and aim a small personal sized fan 6-8" at the right or left side whichever is easiest but anglede so the air will get around the boards and exhaust out to the other side without issue. then see how long it takes before the color sync starts to lose control. If it is like mine, it will no longer happen, this is then solved by simply exhausting the hot air. I've given a detailed explanation in BAD CAPS FORUMS under mitsubishi dlp problem solved costs about $50 total but has a few hours of work involveed

Just replaced color wheel. When TV turned on seemed fine but then i noticed a grey/black shadow band on one side. What could be the cause?

I had a similar issue with mine from the factory. There was a grey/black shadow in the upper left. Called for repair. The guy took off the circular access panel on the left back side and there was a fingerprint on the projection lense. He cleaned it and it disappeared. Sounds the same. Maybe touched the lense replacing the color wheel?

Blue shadows appear to be behind white objects

TV shows large red spot in middle of tv when dark show are on, you can see it more.  Now blue spots on upper right side too.  Spend way to much on this tv to have these kinds of problems only after 3 yrs.

Mitsubishi Model WD-52725 timer green light blinking fast

My Mitsubishi WD52725 will not turn on...the timer light is blinking. We pushed the reset button, unplugged tv. Just got off the phone with Mitsubishi customer "service." After answering numerous personal questions, and being on hold for several minutes, I was told that the only solution was to push the reset button. Duh! We'd done that several times with no change, which is why I called them! BIG WASTE OF TIME!!!!

Green shadows all over the screen

You didn't say how old the set was and how much it's used, but the shadows you're describing sound like a bad green picture tube.

Hope that helps...

Pictue is dark as hell

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.
