Make sure your pressure switch is set correctly. Check your pressure gauge and make sure it is functioning correctly. Also, seems sometimes if there is any time when there isn't the adequate amount of power demand supplied the motor heats up more causing the thermal protection switches to act a little finicky which in turn shuts it down.Check how many amps the motor is rated compared to the breaker controlling the circuit. Is it a dedicated circuit only for the compressor or are there other things also drawing power from the circuit ?

SOURCE: craftsman aircompressor bogging down

Yes , the check valve will cause this. The check valve has a flat disk with a spring that holds it down that the air passing past it erodes away till it leaks then the air that the piston pushes into the tank does not stay in the tank but returns right back into the cylinder and puts a load on the piston. Also makes the compressor hard to start back up if it does get pumped up. Some have a dump valve that drains the pressure off the head after they shut off so it can start with no load. So if there is air bleading back and leaking at the pressure swith that will be a for sure sign it is the check valve.

The compressor valve may have a faulty gasket or seal, and maybe leaking air internally. Or the compressor might be going downhill. You can try to replace the valve seal and see if that makes a difference, otherwise you need to replace the compressor.

I am trying to inflate flat tire and can't get it to inflate with air master air compressor 59008. what am I doing wrong?

Jack the car up on the side you want to inflate to get the weight off of it. No compressor that i know of that plugs into a cigarette lighter is strong enough to inflate a flat tire under that much weight.

My craftsman 3gal. compressor starts and run but no pressure is building just keeps running and the gauge remains at 0 psi.

Is the petcock down below open or closed? If open, then screw it closed. Also, is the compressor portion connected to the motor working as it should? As the motor reciprocates, it should operate the compressor piston that pumps air pressure into the tank. Maybe something is broken there.

It is possible that the compressor psi as it is running drops below the tire psi creating a standoff. You must maintain air compressor psi over 110 to fill a tire to 110psi. Add air to your tire but stop when the compressor motor starts to run. When the motor stops then continue to add air until the compressor motor starts and again stop airing up the tire. Repeat as needed.

Can not build working pressure pressure......

The most likely problem is a burned out "run capacitor" on the motor. If you continue to try to run your compressor in this condition it will burn out the "starting capacitor" and/or motor as well.
It's also possible that you have a bad start up pressure relief valve, this valve will be between the compressor and the tank. If this valve is working properly you should hear a hiss of air as the compressor motor shuts off.
A reasonable motor repair shop should be able to replace the run capacitor for $20-$50 plus inflation, depending on your area.
If you need to test the start up pressure relief valve, you need to take it loose at the compressor or tank. Just loosening the line may not work depending on the style used. Note: sometimes just taking this loose to test it causes you to have to replace the valve.

1hp 4gal 2 tank Craftsman Air Compressor not Compressing

Try emptying the tanks completely. There should be a bleeder valve for each tank. Sometimes after sitting for a while with pressure, the compressor won't have enough power to start. If you get the same response with empty tanks, there is a problem with the pump pistons.

The compressor runs (rather noisy) but the pressure increases very slowly and not very high

Please do not take offense to anything I say but your compressor because it has nothing to do with you. It's a personal grudge against that particular air compressor and the Air Compressor **** that designed and built it. It is a piece of junk, and that's the nicest thing I can say about it.. The model you have was built for one thing and one thing only. It was to get an air compressor into the hands of customers that never really needed an air compressor for anything more then inflating a tire or a basketball. My friend's mother bought him one because, as she put it "it was cute". In all seriousness it is a throw away air compressor. I have seen several go bad with less then 30 hours time on the pump and motor. If it is bad and from your description it sounds like it, there is nothing you can do about it. Impossible to get parts for unless they come from another one of the same type. I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful. What I can say is you are better off to replace it. There are plenty of similarly sized and priced compressors that are far superior to the 3gal. 11/2 hp craftsman. The Senco PC1010 is a great compressor for it's size and specs. Good luck

I have a craftsman air compressor (small) with 2 wheels on end, my probelm is when i plug it up it buzzes only, will not start motor, what could be problem

unplug it and see if you can turn the motor pulley by hand, it should turn freely. If it does, check to see if the motor runs with the belt off. If the motor runs by itself then either the belt was too tight or the compressor is seized.
