Question about Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player
Purchased unit in October or November. Tried to play the first blue ray DVD today, Fellowship of the Ring. First time it froze on the fireworks. Waited a minute & it said movie continues on second disc. Ejected disc & restarted. Freeze occurred at smoke rings, earlier in movie. Reset player to default settings using the quick setup menu. Ejected disc & restarted Freeze occurred even earlier. Other issue noticed is that the player is not sending any audio signal to the receiver through the orange cable any more. Audio is coming through the optical link back from the TV to the receiver.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Player suddenly freezes
Try running a dvd cleaner through it first, before trying anything else (the type that looks like a DVD with a brush underneath).
The regular DVD might have been a fluke (scratches, rental?, burned dvd?)
Was there anything special about the new Blu-Ray Disc - what was the tile? On certain titles, you may need the firmware upgrade found at:

i fixed this exactly as previous posted solutions, however a couple of points.
a) recordable CDs work if you don't have a DVD burner.
b) I didn't have a CD burner that would do an "image burn", I downloaded a free copy of "Express Burn" and that worked fine. The disk needs to be "finalised" or "fixated", it should do this automatically, or it may be a tick box selection.
c) I got a "No DWLD 09" when I put the disk into the player. I found this was an incompatibility with the CD-R (Maxwell) I was using. I changed to JVC and it worked fine.
