Question about Saeco Vienna Digital Coffee Maker, Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Saeco Digital Does Not recognize water in tank

With display showing fill tank, refilling the tank does not allow machine to pump watter nor heat water. Unit believes there is no water in system. Forcing water through the pump does not alleviate the signal. Is this a sensor problem or a blocked 'duct'? Any experience with this . dealer has not yet opened the unit and provides no clues. I'm looking for s simple fix. Unit is past warranty and I am not afraid of doing repairs my self

Thanks for the suggestion, but the magnet is already floating and the reed switch does not seem to operate. I am beginning to think the sensor itself is faulty or somewhere further down the circuitry there is problem.
I would need a circuit diagram to diagnose properly.

Replace the water tank float!!or glue the faulty float in the uper postion so as to activate the reid switch, but this will not let you know when you are out of water.

I was unable to find a replacement float so
I took a to go box and cut a wedge to keep the float in place towards the front of the machine.

Lavazza blue

First I'm a retired Cimbali tech but I've come across the Lavazza table models when they first came out. You should contact your vendor for help as there are no customer servicable parts.
*** The following is for information only ***
* Since you have already cleaned, refilled, restarted the unit several times (try up to 5 times at least) Then you will have to look for other problems.
* Make sure the water float moves freely in the tank compartment. It's usually a colored plastic part that moves up and down with the level of the water in the tank. If it's missing then the machine will think there is no water in the tank and not start up the pump system to prevent air from entering the pump lines. The unit will not power up unless it can sense this water float.
* Air bubble in pump. The vibration pump may have an air bubble in the pump valve. Starting and stopping the unit will help force the bubble out. But the pump needs to have clean water with no air in the water filter and the water line to the pump. It may take 10 or more tries to force this water out. Otherwise you will have to have a tech replace pump (re-building pump is very tedious).
* Clogged pump requires service to replace.
* Some models that come with a filter. Check and replace as needed.

I purchased this machine only 2 days ago and it permanently displays the 'fill watertank' message. I've tried filling and refilling the tank and turning the unit off...some advice would be very helpful1

Hi there,
In the water tank there is a float with magnet inside. When water is filled it should rise up to indicate the machine has water. If it is not floating up ,try putting some foam underneath to raise up.It should help.

Yep... you goto take the metal bottom off and see if the small ty-rap broke off the translucent hose... you can replace it with a Panduit 4" ty-rap... the ones that Keurig uses are smaller and can use to be beefed up... there are 2 hoses coming off the motor... one from the watter fill tank and the other going to the main water tank... Could be anywhere in that path...

Water not pumping

Typically this is caused by the heating/water unit inside the machine drying out. Not being totally familiar with your machine let me offer this suggestion: if you have a "hot water" function that allows you to run hot water out of the machine use it to allow water to get back into the heating unit. Once water flows through without interruption you should be able to brew coffee again. I know this is the case with Jura machines and the problem you described is identical to what happens with those machines when the internal heated water tank runs dry.

Jura S9 coffee machine not drawing water - says FILL SYSTEM

I think the magnetic valve is defective. This is located on the left side (seen from behind inside the machine) and there`s connections between the thermoblock and the hot water outlet. Try to press the steambutton and check if the magnetic valve clicks, and maybe check with a voltmeter if it`s receiving power.

PS. During steamprocessing the pump just have small ticking sound, and not the same sound as during brewing. There is no way around this Fill system message, and the reset function is not activated until any System Messages has been clared.
