Possible fault with the drive system if the motor is working without any transmission. You need to check for slippages in the drive. It can also be due to bearing problems or the main shaft being stuck in the drum.

Wont agitate or spin tryied putting on drain spin setting pump will run and run but wont spin

Top loader washers the main reason is either the motor coupling has failed. You will hear a grinding or growling or whirring noise or the lid switch has failed. The lid switchy will keep it from spinning but usually it will agitate. Check and make sure the drum is not froze and won't move, if it is free, check the coupling under the tub and make sure the motor and tranny are connected. If they are then the transmission may have failed. If this is a front loader the main reasons are a bad motor.

Kenmore model 80 washer will agitate but drum will not spin

Your basket drive/ clutch or the drive block may be bad . Can you hear the motor running during spin? Can you turn the drum by hand when it is stopped? I would also look for something stuck between the basket and the outer tub a sock or???? Stick a screwdriver in the lid switch slot so you can see what is going on with the lid open and see if basket will spin with a little help. Does it make any unusual noises?

My washer will not spin or agitate clothes it is a cabrio and just started to day will it pumps water in and out but will not spin or agitate.

Most washing machines work with just one motor... it runs clockwise to run the transmission as an agitator and counterclockwise to run the pump and to turn the whole drum to spin dry.  The belts often look loose but are fine.   Check that the belts are on... if they are then the motor may not be running in reverse.  if that is the case then you need to diagnose whether the motor is the problem or the controller.  Check the centrifugal switch in the motor too.

Hotpoint motor problem after renewing drum bearings!

Hi dave, Its nothing you have done! It will need the carbon brushes changed in the motor as they have got low. The arcing is caused by the brushes not touching the com properly. Just change them and it will be all good.....

Washer won't spin or agitate

you have a bad motor coupling the way to get to it is unclip your pump from the motor then there is 2 screws on the motor through 2 more clamps take off them clamps then when you get your motor off there is your coupling the coupling is about 10 bucks
