Trying to find hole below evaporator in freezer

We are having problem with water leaking in the refrigerator...have found others are having same problem. We are cleaning out freezer with ice build up but are having problems finding hole below evaporator. Have seen picture where someone else was having this problem but still can't seem to find hole. There is a piece of aluminum under all this ice...would hole be under that piece?

The aluminum is the collection tray that the water drains down and goes down the tube to pan under fridge.

With all the ice you are talking about it will be hard to see. You might need to get a towel and mop up excess water as you go.

Get a shop vac if you have one and put the hose in the end that blows instead of vacuum's the warm air will aid in defrosting the ice out of coils. Other wise use a hair dryer. The drain is in center right below the coils. When you get to where you are closer to the as you say aluminum you will notice a small diameter hole say just smaller then a penny in size. Now get some table salt and put approx. 2 tea spoons on the top of hole. this will melt the ice much faster and clear out the drain tube in minutes. Then just clear out with some water and you can monitor the pan under the fridge to see how much water comes out. Hope this helps ken

Freezer side is leaking water & temp is 25

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Water and ice formation in chill tray and other compartment

I am going to assume you have a defrost condensate blockage in the rear of the freezer and behind the rear panel where the evaporator drains condensate after each defros. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The answer to finding the cause of the leak is where we need to begin. Most start in the freezer section behind the rear panel where the defrost condensate is drained during defrost. Sometimes the drain hole freezes over and the water drains down into the freezer creating a large area of frozen water. Other times i happens as the water leaves the drain in the freezer and follows its path to the pan below your refrigerator to re evaporate into the air inside your home. If leaking inside the fresh food compartment then the cup behind the control panel may be over flowing and leaking down the back wall of the refrigerator and will need to be taken apart and cleaned to allow the water to continue down to the pan below the refrigerator. Sludge and dust or even ice may be blocking this line. Below is a link to a page that may help you resolve and fix this. My refrigerator keeps leaking water. Need help.

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the Freezer is because the water has been leaking into the freezer instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you need any further assistance. I have a hotpoint refrigerator model CSX24XJ that was leaking water out the freezer door. I found that the drain was clogged and fixed this but I cannot find the drip tray. Does this model have a drip tray...

There is a leak somewhere in your defrost drain. Most times this is caused by a blockage near the area of the leakage. Below is a link to a very informative way to help you resolve the problem. Thanks.

Yes your model has 2 drip trays. 1 is below the evaporator inside the freezer and behind the back wall covering the evaporator. The other is below the refrigerator next to the compressor where the condenser fan heats the water and returns it back to the air inside your home. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Water leaking from freezer

Check for a blocked defrost drain. Take the panel off at the back of the freezer section and find the small hole at the very bottom center below the cooling coils. Use hot (but not boiling) water and a turkey baster to flush it out until water runs through it. (it will go into the defrost drain pan, where it will evaporate)
This will prevent water from comming out the freezer door and leaking onto your floor and running down your copper pipe to the basement.

Water leaking

If the freezer is on top then empty out the freezer and remove the bottom and back liner of the freezer compartment usually phillips screws. In the back you will see the freezer coils along with a defrost element. Below these two items u will see a drip tray that collects water from the coils on defrost cycle, in the center of the pan will be a drain hole that connects to a hose that leads to a pan under the refrigerator.Normally the water is collected there and evaporated. The hole in the tray in the freezer is clogged. Thaw it and clean it until you can pour water in it and it goes to the pan down below. please rate me
