SOURCE: Coleman furnace blower runs continuously

You should be seeing 120 volts to the igniter. Anything less requires either a replacement of the transformer, start relay or control module.

SOURCE: Goodman GMP075-3 ignition problem

Test while the unit is firing with a meter. you should have 24 volts going to gas valve. If you do and no gas is coming out, you have a bad gas valve. You will need a gas pressure test kit to install a new one correctly.

Keep in mind all furnaces and circuit boards are not the same. Look on the back of the door to the blower compartment. You should find the list of diagnostic codes. Look up four blinks it should narrow down the problem. Although from the discription you gave it sounds lie the high limit control. When a high limit appears to be acting up it DOES NOT mean that the high limit needs replaced. The high limit just may be doing its job. This means that the furnace is overheating. Check your filters. Are all of your registers open? Is your blower set on the right speed? Is your blower going bad? Is the blower motor capacitor bad? Is your evaporator coil restricted? Just changing a high limit switch does not always solve the original problem!
Good luck....

Need your model # to check the codes but, this coming back on after turning the t-stat off is rare. You may have been in a lockout and the furnace re-started. Some furnaces try to start three times , then lock out. Time out, then re-start. The codes should be on your furnace blower door. Write back with this info and i could help.

I have a goodman mfg gmp100-4 furnace. When I turn theromsat to heat I hear blowing for sixty seconds but that is all that happens. What should I check first?

Your furnace has a combustion blower on it. If it runs and don't pull in the vacuum switch the furnace will not start. On the combustion blower you will find a little rubber hose follow that hose to the vacuum switch. You will see 2 wires on the vacuum switch connect the 2 wires on the vacuum switch together. If your furnace starts and runs fine for 15 to 20 minutes you need a new vacuum switch. Try this first

in this image A is vacuum switch B is combustion blower

Hope this helps......

Model #GMPN100-4 Goodman furnace. Vent fan

The sequence of events for furnace operation is -

Fan purge for 30-45 seconds. During this time, a pressure switch is actuated by the running of the purge fan, proving the control board the purge fan is running.

After purge and purge prove, the hot surface ignition and or spark begins. After a few second delay, the gas valve will open. The control board then monitors for flame prove through another sensor located near the burners. If there is no flame within 3-5 seconds, the gas valve closes. It will repeat this process, usually 3 times, before it shuts the system down, which requires a power down of the system to reset.

I have seen trash get into the hose between the purge blower and the purge switch. But you could be having other problems.

Have a Goodman GMT070-3B which the vent motor seems to be sticking. I took apart and cleaned the brushes and reassembled. The furnace will come on only after what seems like the vent motor comes up to...

The whole assembly must be replaced.

The sequence of operation is -

Combustion fan purges the heat exchanger. A pressure switch verifies combustion air fan is running. Usually a 30-45 second purge before the hot surface ignitor glows, or the spark ignition starts.

Gas valve opens after 10-15 seconds and main burners light. Control board monitors for flame and shuts gas valve after 2-3 seconds if main burner does not light.

If burner does not light, some boards repeat this for 3 tries, then locks out and is reset by cycling power.

Air blower comes on after another 30-45 seconds after main burner ignition.

Times may vary based on the specific controller board. A flow chart and timing sequence should be located somewhere on the unit, usually in the fan compartment.

Four flashes on Goodman GDS80904BX circuit board

I have this clunker-4 flashes is an open high limit code according to the wiring diagram and fault code sheet. the common denomonator for this furnaces problems is the circuit board. Always flashing 3, 4, 7 times most of the time having nothing to do with the problem. The actual problem is the board it's self. take it off the mounts (POWER OFF FIRST AND SWITCH OFF>)
remove from the 4 mounts one at a time then check the back of the board. you will probably notice brown spots on the green. this is where the board has burned up. replace the board and you will be fine, you will also be the 100th person I know to have this problem. Make sure you take a picture of the board before you take all the wires off so you can put them back properly. I personally have replaced the board twice the first replacement I purchased (warranty) was made by the same company as the original, the second board I replaced 1 year later with a new board made by a new manufacturer. they obviously knew there was a problem.

The board is bad. The unit thinks a flame is present, so it tells the blower to come on. Replace the board.

Two and a half ton Goodman Package Unit

goodman boards really have to have a very good ground. make sure the ground wire is securely attached. also even though you say the limits are all good, you need to check the wiring that goes from one limit to the next. they should make a loop that goes from the plug at the control board to each limit and then back to the plug. take the plug loose and locate these 2 wires. ohm them out. if it is open, your problem is somewhere in the loop. the fact that the blower is running all the time tells me the board is not getting the signal it is looking for from the limits. I have seen some goodmans that have a rollout problem at the burner box and it melted the wiring to the limits on top of the box.it is hard to see so you have to look closely. also if this is the case, you need to have someone check the heat exchanger for a crack. the rollout usually does not happen till the fan starts blowing while the burners are on. if this is the case, you do not want to run the furnace for any reason as this is a carbon monoxide risk.

Furnace won't stay running

1 FLASH
Furnace fails to operate.
• Integrated control module
diagnostic LED is
flashing ONE (1) flash.
• Furnace lockout due
to an excessive
number of ignition
“retries” (3 total)1.
• Failure to establish flame.
Cause may be no gas to
burners, front cover
pressure switch stuck open,
bad igniter or igniter
alignment, improper orifices,
or coated/oxidized or
improperly connected flame
sensor.
• Loss of flame after establishment.
Cause may be
interrupted gas supply, lazy
burner flames (improper gas
pressure or restriction in flue
and/or combustion air
piping), front cover pressure
switch opening, or improper
induced draft blower
performance.
• Locate and correct gas
interruption.
• Check front cover
pressure switch
operation (hose, wiring,
contact operation).
Correct if necessary.
• Replace or realign
igniter.
• Check flame sense
signal. Sand sensor if
coated and/or oxidized.
• Check flue piping for
blockage, proper
length, elbows, and
termination.
• Verify proper induced
draft blower performance.
