Signal to monitor goes in and out, mostly out

Most of the time I do not get a signal from the Gateway GT5220 with a nVidia GEForce 6150 video integrated into mother board. have tried replacing video card with another nVidia but computer doesn't recognize it even with cd software coming with it. Gateway now says my mother board is problem. only 1.5 years old. any suggestions???

Hopefully, it is just the on board video that has gone bad, and not the motherboard. When you install a video card on a PC, that has on board or integrated video, you will need to access the BIOS screen on start up and disable the on board video. That way the video signal will come from the new video card and not the on board video.

I hope this helps,

Eric

I don't think It's possible. Normally the Graphics card over rides the onboard Video. You would have to get another Graphics card with duel video ports.

What GB is this Desktop? Does it have the capacity

manufacture spec:
proc: Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 Ghz
RAM: 512MB
HD: 200GB
VGA onboard: 256MB shared max (NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE)

if u only use for intermediate editing it will work but for expert editing i think its still need higher RAM because with 512MB shared with VGA 256MB this not good enough. Maybe u need buy some extra RAM to ensure perfomance.

NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE is good VGA.

hope this useful

I have a mobo C51PVGM-GB that I would like to upgrade the video card and not use the one built into the Mobo.

You are upgrading the graphics.
Instead of using Integrated Graphics, you will be using a dedicated graphics card.

Integrated Graphics is also referred to as OnBoard Graphics.
On the motherBoard.

The GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is soldered to the motherboard.

It is not a video (Graphics) card.

A dedicated graphics adapter card has it's own GPU, and graphics ram memory.

Viewing this small photo of the motherboard, the Orange long slot you see is a PCI Express x16 slot.

2) The Southbridge chip is an MCP51

(CPU stands for Central Processing Unit. Another name is Microprocessor, or simply Processor for short)

3) Made by ECS
4) Has an AM2 processor socket on the motherboard, for AMD processors.
