Question about HP Photosmart 8250 InkJet Printer

Print cartridge cradle is stuck on Photosmart 8250

I have tried all the solutions/troubleshooting instructions and nothing seems to work. It seems as if the wide black cord that is attached to the cradle is not following the cartridge correctly. It sits in a small metal arm but doesn't seem to move correctly. As you can tell, I am not very knowledgeable about computer terminology...but any suggestions you can give would be most appreciated.

HP Photosmart 8250

when you open up the lid, there is another compartment that can be opened up.  in mine there was a paper obstruction that didn't allow the cradle to move.  remove the obstruction and the printer should do it's own maintenance.
I hope this helps!

The cradle is stuck

Fixed it myself...found this link:

It would print the Tap Test as instructed in this illustration....but then wouldn't move to print anything else. So redid the Tap Test several times....then I lifted the lid while printing a test page so the cartridge was in the center and I could get ahold of it to slide it....left the printer ON, but unplugged the power cable...and then I was able to move the cartridge back and forth. I then took QTips with Windex on them and cleaned the silver bar the cartridge moves on. Got a lot of ink off of it.
A couple more test prints...and sliding the cartridge......and it is finally running again.

Expired in cartridge

I had the same issue with my Photosmart so I checked the HP web site and they said that some cartridges (including HP02) expire but you can override. Try opening the top of the printer and undoing the cartridge latch. Then relatch it and close the top. Worked for me (at least for now)
