Take the handle off and spin the cartridge 180 degrees there are little ears on the sleeve just pry it out and turn so the ares snap back in place but just turn it if it does not work turning it clockwise then take it out again and try it the other way its a trail and error thing you must turn the water off first or you will get awful wet

Having trouble finding replacement cartridge for three handle showe/tub faucet

I tried without luck finding a replacement cartridge for a dripping1990-vintage Delta bathroom 90 degree turn vanity faucet with ceramic seals.

So I disassembled it in hopes that it could be repaired - quite simple after pulling the spring clip on the stem and pushing the stem thru the bushing.

It was apparent that the poor seal was caused by carbonate (hard water) deposits on the parts. So I put a few inches of white vinegar in a juice glass and put all the parts in for about 3 hours. Bingo! The hard water deposits brushed off with a light brush. Applied some plumber's grease to the moving parts and reassembled. It's been leak-free for over 6 months now :-).

Note that the cartridge can be reassembled for either CW or CCW opening by picking which of 2 crossed slots in the plastic coupling that the web on the end of stem fits into; so the same cartridge parts can be used for either hot or cold sides.

Note: Don't soak the metal parts too long, lest some of the brass goes into solution; this happened when I let one cartridge soak for 12 hours.

Sure is cheaper & easier than replacing the whole fixture!

The cold water on my Delta double hand faucet is leaking. I replaced the spring and rubber seat. when I put it back together, i can not turn the water off with the handle. I took the stem assembly out...

I believe they go in one way ,, but I've seen some that are 180 degrees out, which would make it so the water won't shut off, also with delta and moen,, add some plumbers grease to the o rings and faucet washers, so they don't stick when replacing,

I have had my Delta bathroom faucet about four years. The hot water side drips. Can not get it to stop. It is one faucet with hot and cold handles with all sitting on a small platforum. The platforum is...

Go to delta website, take a picture of faucet with your cell phone and send. They should be able to identify and send you the parts. Meanwhile you'll have to turn water on and off from the emergency shut off valve under the sink. If it looks like the picture, it's probably the rubber seat and spring. If you don't want to wait go to your local "hardware" store. There may be someone there to help you. Bring the stem or cartridge, along with the rubber seat and spring. Don't use cold water while stem is removed. Turn cold off as well to prevent a mishap.

Repairing two handle shower faucet with replacement part RP1740 and need a step by step diagram of the repair?? Can't understand how to repair without diagram. Hot water tap won't shut off!

No diagram available, but I should be able to walk you through the process easy enough. First, make sure your water is off and you have relieved the existing pressure by opening a nearby faucet until the water stops running. Then remove the handle. Under the handle there will be a nut that can be removed with an adjustable crescent wrench or water pump pliers (if you use the pliers be careful not to mar the surface.) Make note of which way the stopper for the handle is sitting, this is the raised piece of plastic on top of the stem. Then after the nut is removed, you can use some pliers to grab the center of the stem and pull straight out. Once the stem is out, inside the faucet you will see the seat (the rubber piece) sitting down in a little hole and under that a spring. These two pieces are typically the culprit for the leaking faucet so make sure you replace these as well or the faucet will continue leaking. Then working in reverse order, put the new items back in place and then before tightening the handle in place, turn the water back on and check for leaks at the handle as well as the spout. If you have any leaks, tighten the nut at the handle if that is what is leaking, or turn off the water and start the process again to reposition the seat and spring. Good luck, you can do it.

Low flow hot water in Delta Shower

If your water heater is old or has been recently replaced, it will slough off debris that will get caught in the hot water supply side of the faucet. You have to disassimble the faucet and use a dental pic to remove the debris from it. This is a real common occurance. You can also try to flush out that side by removing the parts and then slowly turning on the water without the parts inside. Be careful not to flood your bathroom when you do this. But usually you have to dig it out. I have spent as high as 3 hours digging the liner from the dip tube of a water heater out of a faucet.

Grohe Bathroom Faucet

If you don,t see any set screw for the handle, ( sometimes it is hidden under a small access cover top of the handle) Then the handle is threaded on where the base of the handle meets the sink/countertop surface. It is a right hand thread and will take a few turn before it comes off accessing the faucet stem.

Good Luck, Phil
